I know we have discussed it before, but can someone tell me, once and for all, how often and what type of servicing does my Leganza auto transmission need?
Thank you in advance.

If you do not drive under severe conditions (constant stop-and-go city driving, extreme heat or cold, extreme inclines), you NEVER and I repeat NEVER have to service your transmission, AT ALL. Do not ever change the fluid, simply keep the housing clean, check for leaks, and add some fluid every once in a while in case it starts to get low from common burn off or shinking. It says so in the manual!
I went 150,000 miles (that is with extremely severe driving) without a change and my transmission ran flawlessly, in the end, I was forced to changed the fluid because my pan gasket was leaking badly. I can tell you, only bad things came from it! My shifts started to become much more noticeable and after about 30-40 minutes of driving, the transmission will start to jerk really, REALLY badly going into gear. It was almost like being kicked by a mule every time you wanted to accelerate. Nothing good came of it, but again, I was forced to do it.
Bottom line: We have excellent automatic transmissions, simply keep the fluid at the right level, check for leaks, and there will never ever be a need to change your fluid. You will not do yourself or your car any favors by thinking you should change the fluid.

BosnianLanos: Trust me, it's not like I have this crazy desire to change the fluid in there. However, the last time I had my oil changed, the tech's brought in a sample of my tranny oil, and it appeared dingy in color compared to the clean sample I was shown.BosnianLanos wrote:If you do not drive under severe conditions (constant stop-and-go city driving, extreme heat or cold, extreme inclines), you NEVER and I repeat NEVER have to service your transmission, AT ALL. I am by nature a suspicious person, so of course I question everything. But I'm not so suspicious that I want to neglect my vehicle. This is the reason I asked. Thank you for answering.
Woo: As for the hunting tranny, mine doesnt seem to do this at all. It's actually alot better than my GF's Mazda3 and also my old Jeep Cherokee. Once it makes a decision it sticks with it.

Lol, SickDrift, I wasn't trying to be a demon, but I was just trying to show that our transmissions will run fine no matter what you do to them. The fluid will be dirty and dingy, but it'll still be fine to run. My transmission ran even with a liter of water in it.
Sorry if I came off as an ass, that wasn't my intention.
