Hi. I've heared a rumor about Lacetti Stabilizer bar.
The rumor is that the export version of Lacetti which has 1.8L engine inside's stabilizer bar's diameter is different.
So I want to know the truth.
Does anybody has heared about this or can anyone check the diameter of 1.8L Lacetti's stabilizer bar please?

My Lacetti (Optra 5 here in Canada) came with a 2.0L U20SED engine.
I have a spare stabilizer bar.... had some fun... wrecked the stock one.
Honestly.... it's not very big... I was thinking it's only 18mm.... I will check it out if I end up going to my shop tommorow.

Do you think there would be any disadvantage to making it out of carbon fibre?
How about stainless.... it has good flexibility and looks damned fine.
I was even thinking that wrapping carbon fibre around the stock 18mm bar would stiffen it quite a bit without adding much weight.

the problem with CF is that it doesn't flex very much... it's far more rigid. now, a solid carbon rod (or matrix) is different (think the "Bowflex" excercise machine).
i honestly don't know about stainless in that respect... in my initial calulations, i was doing a heat treated 4130 chrome-moly steel bar with a stiffness calculated to be nearly double that of the stock one. you could heat treat to any desired hardeness, but brittleness becomes a factor after so long.
personally, i'm working on a torsion bar for the lanos it uses varying stiffness springs to change the roll rate. you change the spring by adding plates to it (it's merely a set of strip of metal that twist).
