first o2 sensor position?

Post by DomWoo »

would it be a good idea to have the o2 sensor pre turbo or does it not matter if its after the turbo?

with my old exhaust setup (after turbo) it was throwing a CEL about 5 minutes into idle or driving, so im thinking if i put it infront of turbo it will give it different readings and not throw CEL like before

also both my o2 sensors are NGK, not stock and i know about the anti fouler adapter and i might end up doing that. i just want to know where i should put it first

i am not the expert with forced induction stuff but i don't see why the location of the sensor in reference to the turbo should affect its operations... in the end the O2 amount is the same before and after the turbo.

my 2 cents.

the amount of O2 is measured by the temp. a turbo housing will throw off the temperature fairly quickly and make for some wacky A/F ratios.

put it before the turbo

Import Tuner says " It's recommended to "clock" the location of the bung to anywhere 10 and 2 o'clock. In other words, be sertain the bung is welded on the top part of the pipe. Condensation can gather at the bottom of the pipe and damage the O2 sensor. Also, since the safe temperature range is below 900 degrees Farenheit, it is recommended that the sensor be located as far from the turbo as possible, but before the catalytic converter." Amen

You are installin a wideband O2 sensor ? because you should, for safe A/F readings and tuning.

Check for AEM UEGO or the Innovate LC-1
