The Lanos that does not have remote locks, but has power locks needs the key to activate the power locks.
If your Lanos has power locks and needs the key, when you locks the doors with the key, both locks will lock.
If you unlock the door with the key, both lock will unlock.
It is a lot easier to add remote power locks if your car is like this because only the receiver/activeation unit is needed to receive the signal from the remote and lock/unlock the doors.

A Lanos with factory power door locks, but without a factory keyless entry system has actuators in both doors so that if you lock the driver side door with the key from the outside of the car, both the driver and passanger door will lock at the same time.
If the car has factroy keyless entry, both doors will lock and unlock with the remote.

If there is power lock on lanos, there is no actuator on drivers door. All other doors do have actuators, but driver aint! So you have to change lock add on or plug in plastick, with left rear door. Go buy actuator for left-rear door for lanos, and it feets perfect on drivers door.
