Instrument cluster from Daewoo 1.5 into Cielo?

Post by bluecube »

Hey everyone. I was wondering if any one knows whether the instrument cluster from a Daewoo 1.5 will work in a 1.5 Cielo. Same engine etc and the interior is exactly the same too. The main reason I'm asking is that I have seen a Daewoo 1.5 instrument cluster with a tacho built it (something i really want for my Cielo). Any help would be great!

From what I've seen the cluster on a Cielo is more rounded, etc, where the 1.5i is more square, like the Kadett.

I got a 1.5i without tacho; bought an external one and wired it up right. Then got a bigger one cause it buggered up. :P

4 wires, nice and simple.

1 + 2: Power, pos and neg.

3: Wire to get sensor. Goes to next to the coil. Simple.

4: To take 12V off an accessory thing for lights. I hooked mine up to a spare (empty) globe holder.

That's where the sensor cable goes: link it up to that white wire on the grey plug there. Or whatever is like that on your car.

I managed to find the Daewoo 1.5i instrument cluster with a tacho built in and will get it later on this week. Hopefully it will fit in my Cielo. I am 80% sure it will as the interior is nearly exactly the same and the cluster looks to be the same shape. If it works I will post pics later this week.

If you have trouble getting the tacho working, just yell out. :)

I got the tacho from the 1.5i at the wreckers today (cost AU$70 - bit more than i wanted to spend but a cluster with a tacho for a daewoo is really rare). The shape of the cluster was the same as my previous one although I did have to stuff around with the wiring looms for quite a long time (tacho cluster only used 1 plug not 2. It just took a fair bit of diagram drawing and trial and error, but it all works a treat now! Oh any just to let everyone know - there is a tacho signal wire behind the cluster on 1.5i SOHC daewoos! (even if u have a cluster without a tacho), the wire was white.

Aw dammit! I want one with a tacho now!

Although I'm looking at getting the Kadett digi-dash... I think I'll need the ECU too though. Cause I'll be getting the C20XE.

Yeh digidash does sounds like a good idea. Where abouts are you thinking of sourcing the parts from for your project?
