the night before the 5th meet we recently had me and Zikas got this idea... we tryed to paint the old set of projectors headlight black and see how it will look like, also the project was extended to include grill paint as well.
first we were not so sure about "headlight in the oven" idea so we placed the headlights very near to an electrical heater to soften the adhesive then we went for it with a flat end screw driver and a cutter.
the idea worked great but it was a pain in the ars to work on the headlight with our hands so close to the heater, we got the transparent cover off and it came out with the chrome frame screwed to it.
after we removed the frame from the plastic cover i started to mask the areas that we were not going to spray... some people spray the whole mask but i live to have it this way.
we then started spraying the frame in 3 consecutive coats to avoid orange peal effects and such issues.. we painted every thing even the carpet
as for the grill we simply took off the chrome bit off the plastic grill and washed them as they were dirty and after they dried we sprayed both of them... why we sprayed the black grill in black you might ask? 'cause it was starting to be a bit gray and would have looked bad with the shiny black frame.
we finished the job at about 1:30 AM so we postponed the installation till the morning... pics of the finished product:
