The C20LET and Z20LET are for all intents and purposes the same; it's a matter of what bolts they use. Z20 is newer, whereas the C20 fits cars like 1980 - 1990, eg. Racer, 1.5i, Calibra, blah blah.

C20LET is better than the Z20LET but it's hard to find a C20LET in good condition due to the age of them.

There are certainly more aftermarket parts for the C20LET but the Z20LET market has been catching up over the last couple years.

It's a tough choice..... both are great engines.

The C20LET has a different crank.... it has an eight bolt flywheel.... I believe that the Z20LET uses the more common standard 6 bolt pattern.

One could argue that the 8 bolt crank is stronger than the 6 bolt but I don't think there have ever been definitive tests to prove one over the other.

I'd have to guess that the C20LET crank is stronger but I don't think it was forged.... I could be wrong but I believe it's a nodular cast iron crank.

There has allways been people questioning if some of these crankshafts are forged..... some say that they believe the C20GET ( north american 2.0L 8V Turbo) crank is forged due to the design characteristics.

Unfortunatly.... nobody seems to know for sure.... the only way to know is to section the crankshaft and examine the structure of the metal.

If I had a choice between the two I think I would go for the C20LET since the Cosworth Designed head is probably slightly better.

I don't particularly like the engine management system that came with the LET.... If I had one I would probably convert it over to another system such as the Delphi systems in the Z20LET.

So..... my choice would be a C20LET with Z20LET sensors and engine management.

Oh.... another important C20LET point..... there are two different heads.... one manufacutred by Cosworth using the "Coscast" technique and an one head with a KS-Kolben- schmidt head..... you want the Cosworth head as the Kolben head tends to have problems with porosity in the casting which can lead to weak spots and eventually cracks.

No.... perhaps your lucky...not all KS heads are garbage..... but you should consider the fact that your not subjecting the head to the extreemly high temperatures and pressures found in a high boost turbo motor.
