DIS ignition system on lanos
Which cylinders are on witch coil pack. As I understand, there are to coils in coil pack that fires all four cylinders...
Also, I understand that fireing sequence is
1-3-4-2

on a much simpler version: when looking at the coil pack in the pic... the two ports on the left fire cyl. 1 & 3 and the two ports on the right fire cyl. 2 & 4.

the firing order is 1-3-4-2 indeed @ 10 deg. before TDC.

Thanks. I thought soo...
Is it possible to use lanos 1.6 DOHC coil pack on Opel c20xe? I would produce all needed signals...

Left half of coil pack is one coil (A), and right half is another coil (B). So, cylinders 1 & 4 should be conected to one coil (A) , and 2 & 3 to another coil (B)...MMamdouh wrote:on a much simpler version: when looking at the coil pack in the pic... the two ports on the left fire cyl. 1 & 3 and the two ports on the right fire cyl. 2 & 4.

So when you fire 1-3-4-2 you will have fireing coils: A-B-A-B
In your case would be: A-A-B-B which is wrong...

Never mind that... My question is: Would lanos 1.6 coil pack would be strong enough for opel 2.0 DOHC engine (c20xe)?
I have designed circuit diagram for older engines like c20xe without DIS, to "split" signal for one coil into 4 signals (2 signals) for coil packs...

are you suggesting that i am giving wrong information?? believe me dude i was reading mechanics books when all the kids in my age were reading comic books so i know enough about cars to give correct information.mister_g wrote: In your case would be: A-A-B-B which is wrong...![]()
i also have tried this cable setup myself as i once put the cables in the wrong assignment and the car didn't fire up... i called my mechanic and he gave me the correct assignment as in this post:
http://www.daewootech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2634
also you can swap the cables on each half together and still get a normally functional engine due to the waste spark system we have, if you swap wires from each half of the coil pack the car won't start.
the firing order is 1-3-4-2 indeed... check your users manual if you got one... any other order (other than 1-2-4-3) will lead to too much strain on the crank shaft and will break it due to having two consecutive power stroaks on each end of the crank and that will break it.
try to learn the potential of the guy posting information before saying that he is wrong... i didn't come here to post 3380 wrong posts, flooded the How To section with posts by just sitting on my back side nor was promoted to a moderator for the charm of my personality... i spent the last 18 years learning about cars and i am still learning and will never stop learning, that earned me the position i am in now... just don't tell me i am wrong just because you don't know much about cars.
BTW the coil pack is the same on a 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 and 2.2 engines but again... i am wrong 'cause i know nothing about cars.

see though mmamdouh... my car is different than yours as well
if you remember back when my chocochip got dropped into my intake, i posted my firing order and you all said i was wrong... but the car runs strong and the order is the same as when i got it from the factory...
firing order from the repair manual is 1-3-4-2... unless it's a "quad" spark, i don't see how it works both ways

my dear kenny
the firing order is 1-3-4-2 indeed... putting that to the cable assignment i illustrated then you get the following:
1- combustion stroak in cyl 1 you get a spark as well as cyl. 4 which is in exhaust spark, both cyls. are on A half of the coil pack.
2- combustion stroak in cyl 3 you get a spark as well as cyl. 2 which is in exhaust spark, both cyls. are on B half of the coil pack.
3- combustion stroak in cyl 4 you get a spark as well as cyl. 1 which is in exhaust spark, both cyls. are on A half of the coil pack.
4- combustion stroak in cyl 2 you get a spark as well as cyl. 3 which is in exhaust spark, both cyls. are on B half of the coil pack.
as you can see here you can swap 1 and 4 cables or 3 or 4 cables and still you will keep the correct functionality of the ignition system... try to separate firing order from coil pack assignment setup, this is were most people get confused.

Sorry, MM. You endeed did post wrong number of cyl in first post...
Don't get angry. I was confused... I just tought that I have learned ignition fireing system, and I was double checking everything, to se if I get it right... And I saw your wrong cyl order... So, I got confused, WTF?! And recheck all my knowledge....
So endeed, coil pack are fireing:
A-B-A-B?
which corespondes to:
1-3-4-2....
Now, I have made schematic diagrams for full DIS (with 4 coils) for older machines with distributor....
What about my earlier question? Will 1.6 dohc lanoses coil pack would be strong enough to fire c20xe from opel?

sorry i was that aggressive... i was having a really shitty day back then.
i suppose that the coil pack from a 1.6 is going to work fine on the 2.0... this coil pack is the same for all Daewoo engines starting form the 1.4 to the 2.2, can't see why it won't work for the c20xe.
