Hello everybody!
I just purchased my first Daewoo Lanos. It's just the S model with very few frills, but I got it for a song and a dance. Currently it's silver, but someday that might change. I've got the 1.6 liter in-line 4 with a 5 speed manual transmission. The engine runs very well, but tends to flutter a bit when idle. I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to cars and such, but I'm going to be learning all I can about my Lanos. I have a few questions if someone has time to answer one or all of them.
1. Does someone know where I could pick up a gauge cluster with a tach that is compatible with my Lanos?
2. What are some good sites to find parts?
3. My front right turn signal is doing something weird... it blinks very dimly and rapidly (like it is burned out). Anyone have this happen to them or know what might be the cause? (I did try a second bulb that did the same thing)
4. Is there anything you can think of that is really good to know as a Lanos owner?
5. I couldn't find a Chilton Repair Manual for my Lanos, anyone know of a really good manual/book for it?
So far... I got it a nice oil change, a new rear-view mirror, and some Trico Innovision wiper blades.
Much more to come.

Re: New Daewoo owner... Advice?
you can check with 360 dynamics for the cluster that is a good place to find parts.dont know about the turn signal maybe bad wiring and the fluttering at idle kinda sounds like fuel.check the fuel filter or pump for trash.i had that problem and eventually the fuel pump went out.change the timing belt at 60,000 is the only thing that i can think of as a new daewoo owner.you definitly came to the right place for all of your questions. i am new to the forum myself and these guys are great and very helpful. there is a repair manual in the forum under how-to.welcome to the forum ill see you around!JohnnyC wrote:Hello everybody!

welcome to the forum, try to check your spark plugs, spark plug wires, air and fuel filters, injector cleaner will be good and try a TB & IAC cleanupJohnnyC wrote:Hello everybody!

check the classifieds section as well as www.360dynamics.ca1. Does someone know where I could pick up a gauge cluster with a tach that is compatible with my Lanos?
www.gm-carparts.com2. What are some good sites to find parts?

check the bulbs on the right side as well as the wiring... fast blinking suggest a fried bulb and dimming suggest bad wiring or a bad grounding point3. My front right turn signal is doing something weird... it blinks very dimly and rapidly (like it is burned out). Anyone have this happen to them or know what might be the cause? (I did try a second bulb that did the same thing)
1- replace timing belt every 50k miles as well as tensioner, idle pully and water pump4. Is there anything you can think of that is really good to know as a Lanos owner?
2- keep a spare thermostate housing in the car... those are made of plastic and snaps, when that happens you will lose all your coolant in a mineut and car will overheat... its a life saver to keep one handy.

Note: That site is http://www.gm-car-parts.com, not gm-carparts
I can't really add any more to the above post, so ... welcome and enjoy your car.
By the way ... a silver Lanos looks GREAT! Don't change the color!!
Please take some pics and post them on here to share with us, we all love to see pics of each other's cars.
You're very lucky you have a 5 speed; I wish my Lanos were not automatic.
Again, welcome and enjoy the forum.
