Problem spots for bad grounds?
I've read several posts where certian problems were attributed to bad grounds. All of my problems seem to meet the criteria. Such as gas guage doesn't work even though float was changed, speedo goes crazy and stops working sometimes, abs light comes on from time to time. This problem is on a 00 lanos hatchback. I check the batt terminals, and the ground that goes behind the batt under the fuse box but cound't see where the other gound went I'm assuming to the block but not sure. Please help.

Re: Problem spots for bad grounds?
That is pretty much exactly what happened to me when my ground bolt broke through and wasn't held to the body. ABS light immediately came on, gauge stopped working, speedo looked like a tach.azazel19 wrote:I've read several posts where certian problems were attributed to bad grounds. If you can't find a specific ground that is faulty, simply add a ground wire or two from the negative terminal to the body, and see if that solves your problems.
If that fails, then it may actually be the ECU.

Where is the block ground? I can't seem to find it i followed the wires coming off of the battery and it seems to go behind the engine under the intake manifold and i can't see anything under there.

The block ground would probabally not cause many problems with the symptoms you have mentioned. It is mainly used for a few sensors and the ignition coil. Your trouble would be caused by a body ground. It is right behind the battery. My recommendation, take out the battery, unbolt the ground screw, sand down the paint to bare metal and reground the bolt. This "should" should slove your ground issues.
