First of all, welcome to the forum, and don't forget to read the sticky posts in the General section and the posts in the How-To section; they're full of a lot of useful information.
---
The CD player needs no special dealer tools to remove it, only a phillips screw driver.
The easiest way to remove the trim around the CD player to get to the screws is to pop out the cup holder, then reach your fingers up through the open bottom of the cup holder holes and grip the bottom of the trim ring. You will need to pull the bottom of the trim forward. It may take some effort, but just keep pulling. It will pop off because it is held on with 4 metal clamp-springs that grip onto the trim ring and press against the dash plastic. *Note* The metal clamp-springs may spring off somewhere around your car so be careful not to lose them.
Once you have the trim removed, you will see 4 phillips screws, 1 near each corner of the CD player.
Remove the screws, slide the CD player toward you and disconnect the wiring harness and antenna from the back of the CD player.
You're done!
To install the new CD player (assuming it is a standard single DIN sized head unit) you will need a radio installation kit and a wiring harness adapter to make the installation go smoothly and look professionally done.
---
As for the CD read error, you may want to try using a CD lense cleaner disc.
If the lense is dusty, then the laser can not read the CD properly and will cause errors.
Good luck

Yes, this does apply to your head unit.
The plastic spacer between the cup holder and the radio is only a place holder and the removal instructions are exactly the same.
Again, I don't suggest using a knife or screw driver to remove the trim as you may scratch or damage the trim or dash if something slips.
The trim will just pop forward with your fingers.

For those of you who insist on using a knife or screwdriver, fine, use one on your own car, but please do not advise others to do so as they may not be as talented (or lucky) as you are with a screwdriver or knife and may possibly damage the dash or trim of their car. No one likes to have visible damage on their car in somewhere as obvious as the center of the dash around the radio.
I suggest NOT using a screw driver as in the past I have accidently slipped and gouged the plastic of my dash. Dash damage is not pretty. Period.
Accidents happen ... just ask your mom. (sorry, bad joke, but I couldn't resist! hahaha)

The best price I can find for a Daewoo radio wiring harness adapter is $5.95 at CarDomain.
Here is the link:
http://www.cardomain.com/item/SCODO01B
It looks like this:
CarDomain also has the best price I can find of only $9.95 for the installation kit that looks like this:
Here is the link to buy it:

What you want to do is connect the wires from the new CD player to the wiring harness adapter and then plug the adapter into the car's radio wiring harness.
The plastic installation kit makes it easy and look professionally installed by being made to fit your new radio into the hole in the dash. All the screw holes line up and everything fits nicely.
Here is what my car stereo looks like after using the plastic installation kit:
