Can someone with a service manual handy post up the removal proceedure for the air bag in the dash of a Lanos.

well i tried to scan the page but the scans sucked since it was such a big book in a small scanner.
why don't you try downloading the the manual from the "general" sections? the page is 8B-43 and 8B-44. if this doesn't help i can try to list the step my step instructions. well hell i don't have anything better to do so i'll just do it now.

PASSENGER AIRBAG MODULE

1. Remove the Glove Box

2. Remove the mounting nuts from beneath the passenger airbag module.

3. Remove the mounting bolts at the sides of the airbag module

4. Disconnect the electrical connector

5. remove the passenger airbag module.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the passenger airbag module.

2. install the mounting bolts at the sides of the passenger airbag module

TIGHTEN

Tighten the passenger airbag module mounting nolts to 12 Nm (106 lb-in)

3. Install the mounting nuts beneath the passenger airbag module.

TIGHTEN

Tighten the passenger airbag module mounting nuts to 22 Nm (16 lb- ft)

4. Connect the electrical connector

5. Install the Glove Box

All the manual says is "Remove the two torx head bolts that hold the airbags to the frame".

They just forgot to mention that you either have to be squirrel of have hands of rubber to get to the right angle to get at the bolts.

exactly the problem I had. There are two on each side.
