why do the daewoo engines cost so much??????

Post by delphis »

I am looking at getting another lanos engine due to strict california smog laws and then modding it with a possible turbo, but everywhere I call they want 750-1150, when I could get another lanos for about 1500-2000....just bugging me and finding it a little strange that they would charge so much and not want to make the sale when the entire car is sold for just a few hundred dollars more.

end rant. :)

dang man... you can get a 2.2L for 550 shipped... you just gotta be patient and look a lot. ebay is a good place... find salvaged engines and email the seller and ask if they have any daewoo ones!

I have been check all over car-parts.co and all the cheap engines are located either in so-cal or az or nv......grrrrrrr

ya I have seen them on ebay before for like 400 I think so I will hold off,. I just want a new engine and to drop the forged internals into it and turbo it, and plus my engine is just shy of 100k.

unfortunately with the strict california smog laws, I will probably stick with the 1.6 and go turbo with forged internals because then I can just take out the turbo engine and put back in the regular engine for the smog check which has to be done once a year.
