now I got the pulley and covers off but there is just no way to get the power steering pump off enough to get the belt out.
do I need to lossen the engine mounts and if so do I need to loosen them all and if ths is the case shouldnt I just pull the engine for the valves and all the other stuff that is probably toast?

if it the power steering pump on the 1.6 then you have to remove the bolts on the pulley then remove the 2 bolts behind it and slide it forward as far as you can and carefully slip the belt behind it
its a pain in the ass but it will get the job done
did your belt break? is that why you think you have bent valves?

Hands-on....... I noticed your from Argentina... so I thought I'd ask which engine you have and which car is it installed in?
Some of the Daewoo engines are non-interfering..... so you can blow the timing belt and nothing will happen.

Oh.... OK.... your posting from the USA.... I made the assumption based upon your flag...........the 1.6L DOHC is definitly an interference engine.... the 1.6L SOHC is not..... you can snap a belt and nothing happens.... you can have the car back up and running inside of a few hours.
The 1.6L SOHC is commonly used in slightly older vehicles.

most probably you bent your valves... losing 10 teeth is too much and since you can freely rotate the crank shaft then the valves are already bent so that the pistons now got clerance to move freely... or at least that is what i think.
indeed you have to remove the PWS bolts amd move it a bit to the front and slip the belt from behind it.

Just had my timing belt replaced. The items I got are the timing belt itself, idler pulley and tensioner but I did forget one item. The auxillaries belt which powers the A/C and all that. I got the water pump as extra measure and the mechanic replaced it because the old one isn't spinning as well.
What is not needed are the oils seals. He returned these to me. He is under the impression that oil seals are pretty OK items. Sometimes installing new ones might induce a leak.

Gasket golden rule: don't fix them unless they are broken.

i didn't really get what you are aming for so i will explain the two possible cenarios that can be best matched to your question:
1- you want to remove the gear on the water pump:
that gear is not removable, you got to remove the whole pump off the block.
to do that you got to remove the three little bolts on the block as illustraterd... ok their are 2 arrows only but the third bolt is not apparent in this pic because of the angle of the shot.

2- you want to tension/detension the timing belt:
you have to use the bolt shaped section of the pump to rotate the while pump assembly to tension/detension the belt, their is a special too to do that but a wrench of the correct size can do the job.
