i need info on where to find out if my car has a warranty. i have tried gm dealerships, because there are no daewoo dealerships. I went to a gm dealership and they told me they would fix my car if it was under warranty but they told me i would have to find out if my car is under warranty. This is my dilemma. thanks

I knew i had seen this somewhere, so i went on a search for it, and found it...


This is what it said on www.daewoous.com

6. HOW DO I FIND OUT MORE ABOUT MY VEHICLE'S WARRANTY?
Please call the Daewoo Customer Assistance Center toll-free at (877) 362-1234, Option 6. You will need to provide the Daewoo representative with your Vehicle Identification Number, which can be viewed on the dashboard from the driver side windshield. It is also listed on your Proof of Insurance card.

the wheel locks for 10 bucks is nice though, and repair manuals for 30 dollars

i go to break in an hour. i'll try to call where i get my woo serviced and see if they can tell me anything about warrantees. not sure if they'll be there though since it'll be around lunch time but i'll try.

okay i called and they said that the power train warrantee is only good for the 1st owner. but they also said it was good for the 1st owner for 3 years 36,000 miles so i'm not sure if thats correct or not. when i get home i'm gonna try to find my owners manual to see what it says there.

i was told by a that my car has a 5 year 60000 mile warranty, and they they could fi it for me becasue my car was originally purchased in 8/01. they would also fix my recalls.

BUT........They said i would pay to have it fixed and i would get the money back if or when daewoo pays them. sounds fishy to me.

the money would come out of the afore mentioned trust fund. i've been doing some research on warrantly claims made my daewoo owners and found that most dealerships are leary because GM is now loosing money and programs like the DaewooUS trust fund are being depleted quickly.



how much would you be out if you had them fix it?



the reason i ask is this, kelly blue book value is around 4000 dollars for the car. if you only wanted 1000 for the car with just a broken engine, you are ripping yourself off. you should find out how much a dealership would trade you for it (money-wise) versus how much it would cost to fix it. if the price of fixing it is more than the dealer cost, or not enough for you, then scrap the car as you have thought about so far.

We still have a Daewoo dealership up here in Edmonton..... he only sells used cars now.... but he's still in business servicing all the Daewoo cars around here.

He tried to pull that with me as well..... told me I'd have to pay for a power steering pump prior to repair and then he would credit my mastercard for the pump when he gets reimbursed.

I said "no way" I will fix it myself if you won't do it.

So he grumbled and said he would do it for free on warranty.

It sounds like it takes a while for the guys doing the work to get their money back.

So.... although it sounds fishy.... if I owned a dealership I'd do the exact same thing..... they don't want to do all the work and find out they can't get reimbursed for the repair.

How much did they say it was going to cost??

My brother-in-law is an ex-service manager for a local GM dealership.... he said this is very common in the USA..... you pay for it and the dealership will cut you a cheque when they get the money.

He said they might be more likely to help you out if someone from Daewoo USA talked to them to confirm that they will be reimbursed in a timely mannor.

He said that usually the warranty claims issue is cleared up within a day or two when dealing with GM but I'm pretty sure it will take longer with a Daewoo Warranty claim.

Many of these GM dealers know the Lanos engine is nearly identical to the Aveo engine.... so they probably have no issues with getting the repair work done correctly.

Oh....... about the warranty transfer.... to my knowledge it doesn't matter if you the original, second or thirtyfirst owner of the car..... the only thing that matters is that the car is under the 60K mileage level and it's been less than 5yrs from the date of purchase.

Anyone who says different probably doesn't want to work on your car or they are trying to rip you off.

yeah i don't think they wanted to work on it b/c i acted like i had aaron's problem. hell they don't like workin on my car whenever i take it up there. they'll be seeing me in like a month or so though for my timing belt change. :D
