Engine light

Post by SickDrift »

I know this is a long shot since this is so vauge, but here goes. Does anyone know why my check engine light would come on? It has only 32,700miles. I checked the gas cap to see if that was the problem, opened it, retightened it. car seems to idle fine. Put in full tank of gas 1/4 tank ago. It rained today, but well before light came on.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

disconnect your battery for a couple of minutes and reconnect.see if that will clear the light.if your engine throws the code again go get it checked out with the auto parts store.

it is better to scan it now and get the code that the ECU logged than resetting it and never know what the problem was.

I was told by the daewoo *help* line that even though my vehicle falls into a certain range of vin #'s, that only a specific range of lot #'s for the sensor qualify for free replacement.

Am I in for being F*cked by my local dealership?

the cmp is a recall... they should replace it for free...

and if they don't, report them to the better business bureau and get one off ebay

Im all for this solution, but heres my problemo. According to the 800 number i called daewoo at, and the person i spoke to, she said that only specific "modules" were covered by the recall, and that if mine wasnt one of them that i would responsible for all costs involved (labor and parts). All this must be performed at the dealer, so i would get to pay dealer price.

So, even if my car's vin number is in part of the recall, which it is, it *may* not have the suspect part, and then im humped. I dont know how you guys view this, but i feel this all puts me at a very big disadvantage, bends me over for free pumps.

Is this how a recall is supposed to work? Am i not understanding this correctly, or was it explained to me incorretly?

Has anyone else had this expirence? I do admit, im a bit of a pessimist, but I like to go into a situation properly armed with knowelege.
