only the 1.6 will fit without modding the car (and maybe the 1.5... but that's kinda a down-grade and you'd have to get one from canada anyway)

+1

the engines that are compatable to the lanos body (i.e. no mounts modding) are the 1.5 and 1.6... the 1.6 lanos is different than the 1.6 nubira though as far as engine mounts are concerned.

It shouldn't be that hard anyways... it's only 1 engine mount with lots of space to put it.

i didnt want to say it until i can confirm it...

but there're some lanos that can be able to drop an XE without moving the mounts... some lanos did have that base mount... for example... daewooluvr's car has it...

ill dare to say that on 2001 there were some modifications to that mount and other parts of the lanos.

BTW that engine on the picture is the old ecotec, nubi 2.0 what ever you want to call it. all those engines need that mount...

is not hard as Acingteam said... honestly i dont know why i dont see lots of lanos 2.0

opel c20xe goes in without modifications.

nubiras c20 will go in with your engine mounts, but you will luse powersteering pump mounts. Then you can put electrical power steering pump from opel astra g...

Go get 20xe from astra mk2 or calibra... That is better engine (150+HP) and it is bolt on mount...

Again you have to loose servo or klima....

I sware.... if I have to say this one more time I'm going to scream.

The best swap for the lanos is and allways has been the C20GET ( 2.0L 8V turbo ) from an 87 to 91 Sunbird GT Turbo or Grand Am Turbo

All you need is an engine mount from a naturally aspirated 2.0L Pontiac Lemans (1990 era).

The Lanos is a replica of the 1990 Era Lemans.... just a different body.

Suspension... identical
Brakes... identical
Engines... 1.6L 8V (Lemans) cousin of the 1.6L 16V (Lanos)... Lemans also had the 2.0L 8V as an option... which is the cousin of the 2.0L 16V Nubira..... and the 2.0L 8V is the same engine as the C20GET.... except that the C20GET had some forged internals and a turbocharger.
Chassis dimensions.... identical
Engine bay dimensions...identical

So.... hopefully this is understood.... LANOS = LEMANS

That's all there is to it.... instant 165hp 175lbft with capabilities up to 300hp with stock parts

Besides the Lemans mount..... the rest is just wiring.

Slap in the C20GET.... upgrade to a GT28RS turbo.... install a 3 bar map... get the reworked ECU and wham.... you have an engine capable of running 18psi to 20psi with massive axle twisting torque for less than a couple grand.

The fact that everyone keeps ignoring my statements about the C20GET is really starting to bug me.
The 2.0L/2.2L 16V engines will take significant amounts of time to get setup for instalation into a Lanos..... the C20GET is the only "EASY" alternative for the Lanos. ( I suppose you could drop in the 8V 2.0L... but it makes less power than the regular 1.6L 16V lanos motor )

I'm annoyed enough that I'm really tempted to grab a Lanos and do the swap so everyone will see that it can be done without any problems.

I should have my 1989 Pontiac Lemans with a remanufactured C20GET (2.0L 8V Turbo) sometime in the new year.

I'm really tempted to take this engine out of the Lemans and slap it into a Lanos.

Sorry if I seem disturbed..... It's really bugging me that all my posts about the 2.0L 8V turbo swap are being forgotten.

Perhaps I know of a way to rectify that.................. I'm going to discuss with Efrain the idea of a purely "technical" area of the forum which is locked up like the How To stuff.
