daewoo noob stupid question

well i'm a noob

but i'm not a noob when it come to import compact cars namely " jspec " etc

so...........................

i desided to go into a totaly direction and get rid of myself of jspec and now i landed on base of kspec.but this is my point

i'm looking for a kspec car - kia,hyundai,daewoo

and i having a hard time to narrow my choice so i want to some major help. i spoke to difference forum that support " kia and hyundai " and they told me there feeback.

but i never knew that DEAWOO was still around so if some can answer this and let me know !

this is what i'm looking for

out of all the daewoo on the market !

bodykits , swap out , conversion any mod

well... there are a couple NEW options for you


Suzuki Forenza - 2L engine

Suzuki Reno - 2L engine

Suzuki Verona - 2L (may be 2.2, not 100% sure) engine

Chevy Aveo - 1.6L engine





the aftermarket parts are pretty slim for the woos... but we are making headway with gaining more parts. currently there are 3 engines in the woo family... 1.6L, 2L, and 2.2L. theoretically, they can all be swapped out with minimal work (engine mounts change a bit). there is a turbo kit available for all engine models as well as underdrive pulleys. those are the main off the shelf parts for now... but offer huge gains (about 20hp with just the ud pulley). there is a group who rally race the reno and we are waiting on a set of adjustable coil-overs from them... due out within a few months.




there are a few people with each of the models of daewoo who race them in various ways. we have a the rally reno, a track forenza, a track lanos, a drag racer (racer = nexia = opel astra mkii = pontiac le mans = vauxhall kadett e).



there are some extreme engine swaps that you can do as far as factory turbo engines and the rumor is that a v-6 (the one found in the cadillac catera) will bolt to our transmissions and fit in our engine bays.




as a bit of general info to help you decide... the daewoo 1.6L engine (the smallest in the US) was originally designed to prodice around 150hp but was de-tuned to around 100... so you can see the potential even in mild mods.

as for bodykits.... there aren't too many choices for the daewoos, but there are some nice looking ones. in the 360Dynamics section you will see a thread about body kits for the new woos and one of the older models (towards the top, if not the first post that's not a sticky).






were you wanting a new woo or a used one?

because i so used to jspec car " i use to have a 87 civic with b18 with a conversion 93 front end and rsx tailight and i sold it for $6000 " and well i ready to by a car until my brother in laws who got a trick out sonata told me and look in to korean performance car namely " kia,hyundai,daewoo "

but i want to make it s-h-o-r-t

i really want to try something difference

and i did when to that website where all those woo body kits and when i wan to see the picture close up it woint let me !

alright so your looking to go all out then from what you said about your previous civic. whats your price range on a buying a car and how much your willing to spend on it on mods?
and where do you live? that can play a role if your close to someone that can help.

Actually the Verona has a 2.5L I6. It is the most powerful Daewoo engine, but alas, it is the weakest 6 cylinder in the US market.

Well, if you want to be unique, Daewoo is definitely the way to go. Kia and Hyundai are quickly gaining popularity and aftermarket support as their build quality increases, so in a few years, they will be as common as Civics and Integras.

However, Daewoo is (very incorrectly) know as a POS car, so there is very little aftermarket support, and you will be an underdog in every race you enter. However, this works to your advantage because there is a large (mainly underground, a.k.a daewootech.com) Daewoo following, and small companies such as Intimidator, Sharkracing, Team SR, and 360Dynamics can sell you almost any aftermarket part you can think of.

My advice to you:
Using the $6000 from the sale of your Civic.

Use $1000 (possibly less) to buy a Lanos Hatch 1.6L with a broken timing belt that does not run. Preferably the Sport version so that you can use the better ratio transmission.
Use another $3000 swapping in a 2.0L Nubira engine fully built to run a turbo.
Use the rest to mod it out as you see fit. For the remaining $2000 left over, you can get an Orciari lip kit, wheels/tires, full suspension upgrade, and maybe have enough left over for a nice audio setup.

The $6000 you would use to buy a lightly modified Japanese or other Korean car would easily net you one of the best Lanoses on the planet. You would handle like a Go-Kart, and have in the neighborhood of 300 HP in a 2500 lb car, putting you above some of the fastest sport compacts, and in the neighborhood of some of the Muscle cars.

Again, this is all in theory.
