OK, i know this subject has been discussed several times but i still havent found the answer i seek.

Is there or is there not a CAI for the leganza 2.2? If so, who makes them? If not, is it somehitng i can manufacture?

I dont know alot about them since i usually deal with carbs, and CAI isnt necessary in the same manner.

two more questions. Is there a step by step set of instructions for removal of the resonator. Will it make a noticable difference?

this is a long shot... but it's a start...


buy an intergra GSR cai kit from ebay (40 bucks)

and buy a 90 degree silicone elbow (35 bucks)

ok... attach the elbow to your throttle body... then cut one of the pipes off so that the 45 degree piece points towards the hole in the fender (if you look at the gsr pic above... where the breather tube connects makes a perfect fit... you'd have to measure to be perfect)

then, do the opposite style cut on the other piece... with the 90 degree bend still attached... this points the 90 degree bend into the hole in the fender.

use another coupler (buy a few and some clamps) and attach one of the left over bends to the end of that last 90 degree bend (you might have to pull the inner-fender out)

attach your filter and re-attach the inner fender.





you'd need to measure all the lengths to be precise, but i'm pretty sure that would work.

if the bend from the elbow to teh hole in the fender is more or less than 45... you can cut the 45 or cut the 90 to be bigger.




i'll make a really detailed and illustrated how-to if you'd like :D

cai = cold air intake
cold air intakes draw air from a location away from the engine. the air inside the engine bay is very hot once you've been driving for a while, so performance is decreased. on the flip side... the shorter pipe means less restriction over-all, so your cold starts and drag launches are much better.

PROs: better performance in the long run
CONs: gets dirty faster, hydrolock is a possibility (where the engine sucks in water)

sri = short ram intake
short rams draw air from the engine bay. this can be very hot if you've been driving for a while, so it's not always the best option for performance when it comes to longer drives (more than say 15 minutes).

PROs: better short distance/time performance, weighs less, doesn't get as dirty as fast
CONs:decreased performance at higher engine temp, noise



THE BEST OPTION
the best option without a doubt... is a short ram BUT have a way to deliver cooler air to it (hood scoop, ram air duct, hood spacers, etc). the sri is pretty loud in comparison too.






a word on noise... if you like the snarling dragon sound... go with a sri with a good velocity stack filter... but beware that it can be too loud. my sri was sooooo loud that my girlfriend didn't like to ride with em cause you can't hardly talk over the engine noise :roll:
