ARP conrod bolts for C20GET

Post by GsiTurbo »

I found it on the Wallace Performance website:

ARP Con-rod bolts ?

Advised for any high-powered C20XE or C20LET engine. These bolts replace the standard big end bolts located on the con-rod. Under higher revs a great strain is put on these resulting in the piston ?slapping? the valves or the con-rod completely freeing itself from the crank ending in the engine being virtually written off. This small investment will prevent any worries of this happening.
?65 for set of 8 bolts

I like it :)

You usaualy have to change the rods to fit ARP bolts. Dont know how to say this but making a little bigger hole at first so the bolts will go all the way down in the rods. haha i hope you understand what im saying =).

You do the same thing when screwing in wood ore something like that to get the screw all the way down.

You can get two types of rod bolts for the 2L;

ARP Hi-Perf 8740 P/N 109-6001
ARP Pro-wave P/N 209-6003

You can also get main cap studs;
ARP P/N 209-5401

For head studs 2_Litre_Turbo (Tony) has used the following;
ARP studs 0.5"x6.5" P/N AR6.500-1LB
ARP 0.5" ID x 0.875" OD washers P/N ARW78N
ARP 0.5" nut P/N ARN34

I think both the nut and stud are 20 threads per inch. You will need to modify the block to suit.

I used the high performance bolt mainly because they're much better than stock, they're a bit cheaper than the Wave Locs and I'm just about broke! :roll: My machinist didn't think they'd distort the bore too much but when they were torqued to spec (32 ft lbs) he realized he was wrong. They distorted the hell out of it! So that shows how much greater the clamping force is. There's also no retapping or drilling or anything like that - they threaded right in. Interesting thing is they say in the catalog and on the package they're for a Vauxhall/Opel 2.0 16V engine.

I bought them direct from ARP in California in the US of A. I usually talk to Debbie in tech. She knows her stuff and is very friendly. Give her a call!
