Suzuki Swift..... aka 2004 Lanos

Post by PrecisionBoost »

Here is the spec sheet on the Suzuki Swift (same as Chev Aveo)

http://suzuki04.com.rebeltrail.com/en/a ... t#features

In the accesories section they have a few things that might fit onto our car ( such as a couple of gear knobs )

The top model has some really nice features.... I'd like to see if I can adapt some for my Lanos.

I looked at the suspension and both front and back seem to be the same but it's hard to tell without measuring things up.

By the way.... if your looking at prices that's in Canadian Dollars so it's quite a bit less USD

Here is a picture of the engine bay....

It's slightly different, I think that they decreased the size of the intake slightly.

The biggest thing I noticed was the change of motor mount.

Now it's like the Nubira, right in the center of the timing belt area.

I'd be willing to bet that this engine probably still has the same bolt holes available to be mounted in a lanos.

The Nubria 2.0L swap into a Swift or Aveo would be very easy since they probably both have the same mount now.

Overall it looks nearly identical but I think it will take a litte more investigation to see what parts have changed.

I was thinking that we should try to alert any new Aveo/Swift/Verona owners that their cars are in fact Daewoo products and welcome them to this forum.

This way we can check part compatibility and get access to the aftermarket scene for the new cars.

I went to the Suzuki dealer today to look at the new rebadged Woos. I was also explaining to the sales guy that they were Daewoos and he even had a look at the engine of my Lanos to see the same thing under the hood. He said someone else had been talking about them being Daewoos, too. I had to show him the grilles and that the Suzuki ones are just very slightly different, like the Forenza's grille just has the 'S' stuck in the middle of the Woo grille. LOL

I was wondering, how different are the Magnus' (Verona) inline 6 motor mounts from the 2.2L 4cyl in the Leganza? Could a swap be possible?
2.5L 6 would be a nice addition to my Leganza, and engine parts & service would then be easy to get through the Suzuki dealer.

I was thinking the same thing.

As far as I know the two engines aren't related and the two chassis aren't either so it would require extensive research to find out if it's possible. Who's gonna be first??
