intro: Im another newbie

Post by SickDrift »

Hi everyone,

My name is laurence, im from the central valley in california, usa. I will be taking delivery of an red, 01 leganza se this monday.

The previous owner was an old lady (luckily not the one from pasadena) who didnt drive much. it only has 32K on the odometer. she hasnt needed it much lately since her demise.

My goals are to lower it a bit, I already have the wheels on order for it, tint the wondows, and maybe do some easy mods to free up a bit of power.

Ive been reading though the past posts for the last day researching my options. I would like some of your advice though.

1) Whats the best set of springs to close the gap between fender and tire w/o being too racey? (i will be using it for business, so i want it to appear respectable) I heard someone compare the stance to that of a bmw, and thats what im looking for.

2) Whats the best deal on a camber kit out there? anyone have the part numbers for the kits from eibach? $270 from k-mac seems a bit steep.

3) What are the best mods for engine performance? are there fuel management options? who makes the best CAI?

I have read though most of the posts regarding these questions, so i know whats available. im looking for your expirenced opinions though.

Thanks in advance, looking forward to getting to know you,

LG

Wow. Sure are alot of Leggy tuners on here now. Well, all I can say is you've come to the right place. Welcome to the forum. I don't really know as much info on Leganza's as you need but there are tons of intelligent users here who won't have any trouble guiding you in the right direction.

hey, welcome.

as for the springs, go with the smallest drop you can. that sounds counter to what you'd expect, but that will give you a better look.

as for fuel managmet, the apexi SAFC-II is about as good as it gets without adding big bucks and going megasquirt, aem, motec, etc

as for a cai... tom with 360 dynamics is prototyping one now i believe, would be well worth it to talk to him about it. :D

GOOD LUCK!!! and WELCOME!!!

Thanks for the response,

I'm not really sure I would call myself a tuner, more an enthusiast. The leganza is for work, but a couple mods couldnt hurt. :D And like you said, and as I have seen, there are definately a ton of intelligent users who can help me out.

I do have a project though:

My corolla, it's a money pit, but since im cheap, it wont take too much of my money.

Thanks again,

So would you say 1.5" is too much?

1.5 would be fine for a muscular look without dropping it too much. the 1.6 frop is a big difference actually.
