Is this bike worth buying?

Post by kinkyllama »

I know bikes okay but not really really well. I found a bike on ebay about 2k cheaper than it should be for its buy it now price and shipping is included b/c his friend works for a shipping business "LUFTHANSA AIRPLANE CARGO"

Can someone that knows bikes help me out and tell me if they see anything wrong? Item number: 4593677702. Also.. is there any service for bikes i can look up the VIN # to make sure its clean?

The only thing about this deal that im not sure about is i contacted the seller via email about a few things which he answered very well and professionally but this is what he said about the payment "The finacial part of this deal will be manage by eBay Motors. They are acting like a third party in this deal. Since this deal will be made using a THIRD PARTY to help us closing this deal, I prefer honnest buyers.
In normal circumstances Paypal is my favorite way of receiving the payment but unfortunately for the moment I have some troubles with my paypal account and i am forced not to accept this method at this time. Anyway I hope this is not a problem because I am a eBay Motors member and all the payment process will be done through them.". Anyways im not sure exactly how you pay through ebay motors but sounds like a good way to rip someone off to me. Id like to mention that this deal would be done with my Sisters help which knows ALL these types of tricks and trades so im not just jumping into this idioticly.

Thanks alot for your help guys,
Danny

the only thing that bothers me about it is the lengthened thing. he doesn't have a precise number on it and based on it's lack of miles... it seems like he may have messed it up and made it un-safe or maybe mechanically un-sound. i dunno though. it does sound too good to be true

Yeah i noticed that too.. ill be sure to ask him about that. Maybe he replace some of the parts with parts of the 1000 (like the rear wheel) to make it longer but doesnt know exactly how much longer.

I saw two 2002s w/ 12k miles on them go for 3900 and 5100 so it seems to good to be true since its an 01 with only 1200miles

i wouldn't buy it b/c its over the pond. its just too coincedental (spelling) that he knows a friend that can ship something that would cost even a company at least $300 to ship something that bulky and heavy that far and the fact that he doesn't even know the measurements of his own mods. i can understand if he doesn't know the exact numbers but he should be able to give an idea. it just sounds a little too risky for that amount of money to me. plus sending the payment to his neighbors is even fishier.

Shipping a bike from Russia (i think it was russia) was $505usd.

Well my Sister is the accountant for a international organization so she'll be able to let me know how creditable this payment method is when i talk to her tonight.

Plus ebay has buyer protection up to 20k and i read through it all and im sure it covers me if this guys a fruad.
