Several members have already posted some interesting info about the 16V conversion on the 2.0 engine, and the possibility to use the block from Nubira.
First of all, lets talk about the headgasket. For comparison, 16V headgasket vs 8V (from here.
This shows the 8v and 16v gaskets. The only differences are: the kidney cut outs in the 8v gasket, the larger oil feed seal on the 16v and minor differences in coolant feed holes.
Then there is the oil feed dillema. The 16v block has an oil pressure reducer fitted to the block FACE on the main gallery so it does not over pressurise the hydraulic lifters. I also thought with the 16v engine revving more it would help stop most of the oil going to the top of the engine at high RPM because a 16v will rev to around 7000rpm stock and the 8v does 6750rpm stock.
Nice clean engine Wish mine was like that
Then there is the head. Note the position of the oil/coolant journals:
1 - head bolts
2- cooling feed
3- oil journals
4- cooling journals
8V head (C20GET)
16V Nubi head
16V C20XE head
As you can see, all the galleries nicely line up. The gallery 'kidneys' found on the Nubi's head, do line up with the large holes found in the other heads.
Finally comparison between the nubi's block and the 8V block:
16V
8V
Which is identical to the C20LET/C20NE block
Conclusion...everything lines up. Oh, and b4 i forget, there is also a steel headgsket for the engine too With minor mods it can be fited...I am checking out the pricing shipped to canada. Please let me know if anyone is interested.
To finish the story...the engine should be able to breathe easily...this is a comparison between stock manifold, and a good one
The SBD Manifold is significantly more flowing...nice welding job too
Ending Part One
*Edit - added pic of C20XE/C20LET head

Nice comparison. I have a XE/LET head coming from the UK. (with the exchange rate, cost me almost US$2000.00!) I will be building a C22LET! Yes, 2.2 Leganza (actually, RWD Isuzu Amigo) block, LET head, all forged internals, custom block mods such as piston oilers, remove balance shafts, etc., and T3/T4 turbo. It will be over 500HP. Next year, though. For now it's just the Nubi-2.0/turbo and 300HP (hopefully). See it at the following link:
