Blew A Hole In My Motor Oil Pan!!! HELP

Post by Jesse18873 »

200 Daewoo Leganza

Ok, so I was racing out of town and I picked up the speed to about 95mph. So when I finally slow down i hear a loud ticking sound under the hood, I stopped took a look but couldn't see anything wrong with it. So since I was out of town i had to drive the car home, well a mile away from home the car starts to shake really bad, i look at my rear view mirrors and there is alot of white smoke coming from behind the car. So I pull over and i see a trail of motor oil following me, and I look underneath the car and there is a puddle of motor oil going on. So i pull the car home, jacked it up and i notice a hole in my oil pan, i stick my finger in it and i feel some kind of metal part that's loose. I mentioned it to my friend and he said that i probably broke a valve and the oil pump.

not sure how can you confirm a broken valve by sticking your fingur into a pan hole but i recon the damage is grater than that.

driving the car with no oil can easly damage crank bearings, piston walls, rings and pistons... load of heat is created and metal starts to deform and break, a broken valve won't have any passage to the oil sump... i recon this is comming from the crank bearings or so.

i really hope it is something not serious but what you discribed is srious.

Sure there is a direct passage to the oil pan..... the valve just has to go through the top of a piston

You broke a connecting rod. when it broke it went through the oil pan, be lucky it didn't go through the block, I'm sure it's rebuildable. but you may want to think of buying another engine

i dont think he broke a con rod. that sound like what happend to my woo.
two words, spun rod bearing and con rod bolt. most likely, it a con rod bolt that came off. vibrating tells it is just running on three cylinders. were you running on low oil pressure? i'll sugest that every woo owner should get one. sometimes the oil light dont come on when it is at 10psi of pressure. the norm. is about 60psi when you start the engine and possibly drop to 40psi. than the pressure follows your rev when the engine is hot.
got drift?
