Building the subs box/amp display
Im pretty sure i will.. but before i buy my subs i wanna make sure i have enough room for the box.
Anyone have a program to calculate what the best PORTED box would be for my subs? Im getting two 12" Rockford Fosgate P3s dual 2ohm 500rms. They recommend: "1.25 - 2 cubic ft." another source says "1.75 cubic ft" (all info about the subs here: http://sonicelectronix.com/item_2876.html)
Someone recommend 3/4 baltic birch b/c its stronger and lighter than MDF. So i plan on using that.. but first. Just because its stronger doesnt mean it will produces better sound too, anyone know for sure it does?
How do the ports work? What kinda ports should i get and where? I know someone that used to build boxs professionally so imma have him do it for me for free. I doubt he still has all the supplys though so id like to provide it for him to make things easyer.
Lastly im thinkin in the future to also show my car in car shows.. so i figured id do this audio installation right the first time. Im thinking of just laying a peice of MDF in my trunk flat. Then making an amp display below it in the tire compartment and have them showing through plexi glass or something like that.. maybe just have it sink in and leave the plexi glass for when i actually start doing car shows cuz id probably have to have cooling fans if i did this. Any ideas? Im not doing anything huge as i have to take this stuff out for track events. Im gonna have my sub and amp and componets amp.
Thanks for all your help guys.. i need it here. lol.. i always need it.
Danny

ported boxes are built just like a sealed box, except for bigger and you cut the ports in to it, you have to decide on the kind of ports ( round or rectangal) how many and how long, the longer the ports the lower htz it will be tuned to, good luck id like to see it when u get it done. as for size id just check rockfords web site, they should have all the specs there

Well went to a welding supply store.. actually went to 3 of them and took over 2 hours cuz there all so far. First two had nothing.. last one the smallest size they had was 2g.. but only 50ft of it for 70bux.. they said they could order 25ft for 35bux though. Im just gonna spend the money on normal expensive audio wires.. its not worth the drive again or the pain. Although i felt some 2/0g and it was more flexable than my 8g wire!

Well spent a couple hours design the box and all that. To get the best bass would take 100% of my trunk.. to get the bass i want and am going with will take most of my trunk.. actually i dont have room for a nice amp display..
