It shouldnt hurt anything but its probably not a good idea to do it at idlea. Or even if your not in gear.. if your in gear you can hit it all you want.. but if your in netural its probably not a good idea cuz theres very little resistanceDArkstalker wrote:AcingTeam wrote:It's going to bounce back lol.DArkstalker wrote:what happens if you hit the rev limiter on a leganza.

With manual transmission it doesn't matter though. If you have an auto I hear that in neutral you cannot go pass 4k rpm, and in gear 6,250rpm.kinkyllama wrote:It shouldnt hurt anything but its probably not a good idea to do it at idlea. With a manual tranny it doesn't matter whether you're in gear or not, the rev limiter is set to 6,250rpm.
Generally it's not a good idea, just hitting the rev limiter repeatedly. But if you do it once or twice by an accident, it's completely fine.

If your in gear its not bad at all. In racing schools they tell you to keep it in third for certain track for yoru first day.. you bounce off the rev limiter ALL the time and they say its okay

The auto tranny is fine, no matter how you chose to do it. I really can't hurt your engine unless you lay on it for 20 mins and overheat your car. In neutral, the automatic transmission bounces back @ 4500 rpm and in gear @6200 rpm. It is really easy to do in neutral, but nearly impossible in gear unless you are going maximum speed of the car. Otherwise, it would just shift into a higher gear.
