1.5i + MX-5 rims

Post by cpd »

A mate of mine just bought new rims for his 99 MX5, now I might be able to buy his rims for ver' cheap.

Pretty much what I'm asking is: Do you think it looks any good? Here's a shoddy photoshop of what it'll look like:

I've used the wheel calculator here to check if there'll be any problems with the speedo, and it turns out that I've got it pretty much perfect; from 175/70-13 to 195/50-15, there's only .1% change in speedo, so when my car says 100km/h, I'm actually doing 100.1. Oh noes!

But anyway. Leave opinions here. :D

That actually looks pretty good. Are you sure that the lug pattern on mx-5 is the same as on a Lanos (4x100)?

I'm pretty sure it is. I'll be going around his house sometime soon; we'll jack up the car and test it out. That's after Thursday when I get new front pads; I have NO pad left on front right, and pretty much none on front left. FR rotor is grinding like shit. :P

from the pic i can see that those rims are 4x100 pattern and yes the 195/50/15 is the best match for the speedo (just like the 185/60/14).

I know you can tell that it's a 4 lug... but how can you tell it's 100mm?

The bolt pattern is perfect, but the actual hole in the middle of the rim is kinda too small. So we'll very gently bore it until it fits snug. :D

i got used to how the pattern looks like after i almost mixed up the 4x100 i got with 4x114 on the hyundai... after that i used to look at each and every bolt pattern on each car and recognize its measurments.

i know this is not accurate but you can see that the 4x100 pattern almost got no space between the bolt hole and the center hub hole... it is easy to recognize it on any car.

My buddy powdercoated a set of those rims. They are LIGHT as a feather. Seriously probably only 8-10 lbs each.
