Question about electrical system for the engine
can u put any coil + distributor on any car? could u upgrade the coil without the distributer cap?...

Once upon a time you could pretty much use any coil with any car. These days it's not so simple. Many cars get their revcounter readings from the coil and this has to be specific. Another issue is that many cars are now using several coils (sometimes one per cylinder, or even TWO per cylinder). I'd say that depends on which cars we're talking about.
The distributor is another story. It's a possibility that one distributor from one manufacturer is similar to another and can be used, but I would give a no in general to that one as well.
You can upgrade a coil without changing the distributor cap. There should be nothing wrong with keeping the old one, provided the leads fit.
