250LBS @ 2200 RPM..............................217LBS @ 4000 RPM

1/4 mile: 14.48 @ 101.8 MPH.................1/4 mile: 14.78 @ 94.1 MPH
So.... as you can see, SRT-4 is a bit faster than WRX. But, I love the way WRX sounds and it has AWD (SRT-4 is FWD). I was leaning towards SRT-4, but now I'm beggining to lean towards a WRX. What do you guys think?
p.s. The price would be about the same, since I'm getting one used.

wrx... more aftermarket support and you're in no danger of them dropping it. 2006 is the last year for the neon and srt-4 (to be replaced with the ugliest thing ever)
not to mention, the wrx motor takes a whole lot more in terms of mods than the dodge does (higher boost levels without changing pistons, etc).

The fact that the srt gets better times w/ fwd i say got with that...its still a neon though in my eyes. Just dont be too cocky w/ it. Most people around here with them really dont deserve them

WRX all the way to the bank.
FWD vs. AWD
Dodge vs. Subaru
Neon vs. Impreza
Everything points towards WRX
In my opinion, there is no competition. I would take a WRX over a SRT-4 any day. You can even buy an older one, put $1000 in it and effectively beat the piss out of any stocker SRT-4.
Not to mention that Subaru is like 10x more reliable than the lowly Dodge Neons.

my friend has a wrx with a lot of mods on it, and he used to own a corvette and he said his modded wrx is faster off the line than the vette could ever be....his is a very nice subi though, plus I used to owned a moded stratus, it was quick enough to beat a stock v-6 camaro, but the things tranny died on me at 60k miles!
subarus are very nice high end cars andd they go forever as long as they are well maintained!

SRT-4:AcingTeam wrote:so again.... half people say SRT-4 and the other half says WRX.... I will never decide.
SRT-4:
PROS = better gas milage, a bit quicker
CONS = FWD, the name Dodge Neon.
WRX:
PROS = Lovely boxer engine sound, AWD, more aftermarket support
CONS = a bit slower, everybody has one.
- You don't buy a fast car to save gas
- For the same price, an older WRX will destroy a SRT-4 with a few mods
- FWD does suck
- It isn't simply the name "Neon" that bothers me. Dodge has a really bad reputation for quality in their cars (semi-ok trucks) and aren't really a trusted brand. The engine will be ok but the transmission will be in trouble after several thousand miles of hard driving.
WRX:
- Boxers do sound cool, but the engine is of overall better design and quality than Dodge. You can bet on that.
- AWD does rule. Is there anything better than a Redline launch?
- Aftermarket support is a plus. Cheaper parts are more readily available to quickly get you to the point where you can beat an SRT-4
- You are right, a lot of people do own the WRX, but who cares? It is your car and if you enjoy it, what the hell does it matter (The whole point of modding Daewoos). If you buy any fast compact, chances are that you won't be unique.
Have you perhaps thought about the Cobalt SS, or is it out of your price range?
you say destroy like it's a piece of cake... i dont know the SRT4 but with minor mods it should "destroy" your old WRX....
has delphis said the weak point on the WRX is the tranny/clutches... i've seen a couple locally with damaged diferentials.... one with 'minor mods' exploded the rear differential at the drag strip a couple of months back...
and you say FWD sucks... have you ever driven a quick FWD around a circuit???
im not in the US... but is really the impreza cheaper to modify than the SRT4???
