Wrapping up my audio

Post by kinkyllama »

Well i have everything picked out... now i just need help pickign wires and amp wiring kits cuz i know nothing about this and its confusing the hell out of me.

This amp is powering my Subs (500rms x2 @4ohms;3000watts max):

Two of these subs (500rms;1000max):

This amp to power my front componets (125rms x2 @4ohms;520watts max):
http://sonicelectronix.com/item_3773.html

Can someone tell me what wires/fuses/whatever other stuff i need for which amps and whatnot. Would you recommend mounting the componet amp in the trunk or just hiding it somewhere near the front of the car if possible?

Im going to have a shop install these otherwise ill void the warranty of this stuff.. even if it doesnt work out of the box. Plus im lazy and have lots of other stuff to do.

Thanks for any help.. lol.. i really need it with this.

well if your gonna have a shop do it then just buy the amp wire kit from them. they'll give you the best options that they have. just get at least 4gauge amp wires. thats just me though.

The local shops are a huge rip off so i rather not.. but i might try best buy as my mom has had good experiances there.

I was thinking more like 0 gauge for the subs amp and 10g for the componets.

Welding cable. Use welding cable!
The best and very inexpensive says Flexaprene on the outside.

0ga is like $1.50/ft and 4ga is like $0.60/ft ... very flexible, heat/oil/gas/abrasian resistant and works VERY well.

Locate a local welding supply shop by going to superpages.com and using welding supply in the key word section. Remember to put in your city so it knows where to look! LOL

Even if you pay someone else to install the cables, buying the welding cable will save a LOT of money so all you are paying for is the labor of the installation.

Remember, copper wire is copper wire, no matter what the outside plastic over it looks like or what is printed on it. DO NOT, I repeate - DO NOT get taken by the sales pitch of the installation or sales guys that will try to tell you that welding cable is no good for car stereo audio applications. Remember, electric welding requires HIGH AMPERAGE throughput, so it is MADE for even more than your amplifiers will ever draw through it.

Ok ... :) I'm done ranting. LOL ... go forth and buy welding cable!

Also is 0g big enough for alternator to batter, also how many feet of that?

I know most of you are against capaciters but im going to get one anyways.

But i have a question.. okay alot of you audio guys on here beleive a cap is just a crutch and is actually bad for your system. But what if you have say 2500watts max and a 5 farad (5k watt) capaciter that will never get close to emptying.. then its basicly like having another battery right? then at this point its not really a crutch but almost a power source.

Also i remeber over a year ago when i was shopping for a cap the higher the farad the hgiher the price ... big time.. but now they are almost the same price. Shoudl i watch out for cheap caps or do they work almost as well as the more expensive ones?

Im looking at a 5farad cap.. plus my 1 farad one for my 3520watts max system

Mate wiring is such an easy task.

Before you go spending large amounts of money highlight what you wanna run where. 4 Guage or lower is ideal for the amplifiers and i'd say 12 guage for speakers. thats what i run and it sounds beautiful. i like your taste in sub btw. its quite basic man. just lifting trims and what not
