Headlights allignment

anybody know how to correctly allign the headlights? i am familiar with the adjusting screws on the back of the headlight, my problem is where is the correct spot where the beam should be pointed... any ideas?

check your manual that came with the car...

if mine was still readable i'd look (damn drain hose on the ac flooded my car and i lost all sorta a papers that i kept in the passenger floor in an accordian folder)

nothing is mentioned in the manual about this... on a ford forum some guy said to get the car very close to a vertical wall, mark where the headlights are then backup 15 feet and then adjust the beams to be at the very same point you marked... does this sound right?

i would personally like more than 15 feet of advanced warning before i run over something

no no the beams should point to the mark you made on the wall so if you are 15 feet away the beams are supposedly parallet to the road.

That true but I always do that each headlamp alone by covering the other one.

yep... i intend to do that as the beams kinda merge when projected on a far wall.

i did a preliminary adjustment but it was a bit too high, i lowered it yesterday a bit till i can find time to do it professionaly.
