My guess would be that the block is taller. This is what DC did w/ the 2.0/2.4 engines.

It's wider to the left.... the tranny stays in the same position.
So if you look at your crank pulley..... you should ideally allready have 2" of clearance to the metal on the inside left wall of the engine bay.
In the case of stuffing a 2.0L into an Opel/Vauxhall Corsa I think they had to cut a section out of the left engine bay and reinforce it with a tubular frame.
I looked into the Corsa swap when I was worried about the Lanos fitment.... you might want to do a search on " Corsa 2.0L conversion"
Some of the conversions are really funny..... they just take a big sledge hammer and smack the side wall until the engine clears!!!!!
CRAZY EUROPEANS/BRITS !!!!
I allways figured.... if they can get it into a Corsa/Nova it should be possible to get it into an Aveo.

BTW... to fit the XE/LET in the Corsa you only need to create a custom base mount for the engine... on the old Nova (Corsa A) i think they have to smack a bit the firewall. nothing mayor honestly.
