(Newbie) Question about catalyc converter
Im planning to change my exhaust on a Nexia 1.5 ohc 8v.. Will i run into any problems if i remove the catalyc converter (hope its the right expression in english) if yes.. what would it be?
if your exhaust system got only one O2 sensor then their will be no problems whatsoever... if you have two then you have to fool the second one or else you will have a CEL.

If you have 2, you can only remove 1 cat converter (the 2nd one, not the one by the headers), then you will have no problems. 1st and 2nd o2 sensors only measure the difference between the 1st cat... so if you remove the first cat, there will be no difference and you will get a cel (check engine light). But if you remove the 2nd cat, then it has no effect on those 2 sensors.mmamdouh wrote:if your exhaust system got only one O2 sensor then their will be no problems whatsoever... if you have two then you have to fool the second one or else you will have a CEL.

what if you removed both and fooled the second O2 sensor?? that is what every body is doing.

indeed... we have no immissions test here so CATs are just an extra baggage.Audacityracing wrote:emmissions? what emmissions?

yes thats about it... if you got a CAT swap pipe of the same diameter of the exhaust pipes you have their will be no change in sound... HP will be noticed at high RPM, some 4500 and above.

2O2
My car cat has 2 O2 in it, what happenes if I just empty the cat and install it again with the O2.
i said so... if a carburated car with no CATs whatsoever can pass the emissions test we have then we have no tests... hell you can give the guy doind the test 10LE (1.75 USD) and he will give you a PASS for the test.karim wrote:who said there is no immissions test in Egypt

Re: 2O2
what car is it? on my lanos i have only one O2 sensor at the exhaust manifold and i did use an empty CAT... it felt additional power at high rev band but the sound was not good... almost like a metal fart can.karim wrote:My car cat has 2 O2 in it, what happenes if I just empty the cat and install it again with the O2.
a better solution is to get yourself a CAT bypass pipe just like mine and you will get the HP gains without the crappy sound... here are some refrences with pics:

No sir. Every car has to take the emmissions test, have took it before in 2 of my cars, and one failed the test real bad, because it had a broken piston ring, and even after I changed the engine it failed but the guy saw me upset, he let me pass, and the other car was my new Honda City he test it twice and hell it gave 0% although he rest the gadget twice, maybe something wrong with it.
