Here is a nubi 2.0L side view showing where the power steering bracket is mounted into the "front engine mount" holes.

Parts 1 & 3 are the two different motor mounts for the Lemans ( AKA Lanos)

#1 is for the 1.6L and #3 is for the 2.0L

Here is Efrain's XE Block showing the front engine mount still on the engine.

Exact dimensions of the Lemans vs Lanos were taken by myself and Tom (360D) several years ago....... they are identical.

That's why I keep saying this swap is easy as pie.... if you can find the C20XE, C20LET, C20NE in the Lemans/Astra/Kadette you and put it into the Lanos.

Since the newer 2.2L and 2.0L Daewoo engines still have that same bolt pattern they also fit.

Hopefully this puts an end to the "need more proof" that the 2.0L,2.2L will fit into the Lanos.

Some of the other lanos 2.0L conversions made use of the standard Daewoo center engine mount and modified the Lanos to fit it.

My opinion is that it would be way way way way way way easier to simply manufauture a bracket to move the power steering pump to another position and use the factory front engine mounts.

I've made this sticky so it stays on top and I've changed the title a little.

ok now in those pics i see that all the engines used the center engine mount... those require modification to the location where the mount attach to the car's body... right?

on the other hand if you used the Leman engine mount then you won't need to fabricate anything to get the engine to fit however you have to make a new bracket to relocate the power steering pump... right?

sorry if i ask too much about this but i got a bit confused.

Does all of this info also apply to the Reno/Optra/Forenza?

Debo890.... if your talking about the girdle on the bottom.... it can be found in the 2.2L Leganza engine as well.... which uses an aluminum oil pan.

ShalerPunk.... absolutely.... the newer Reno/Optra5/Forenza/Optra/Lacetti/Nubira vehicles will accept any of the 2.0L engines but mounting a C20LET or C20GET into a Reno would probably be a little harder than it would be to get it into a Lanos.

If you ask me... it's cheaper to modify the U20SED from the Reno/Forenza than it would be to import a european 2.0L.

dhd.... you can use the Lanos tranny but the F20 that's normally mated to the C20LET and C20XE is stronger..... and if you want to spend a couple bucks drop in the 6spd F28.

If you picked up an older Calibra 6spd 4X4 you would have one hell of an engine/tranny combo..... you would need to convert the 6spd over to a FWD but there are kits out there for that.

The electrical wiring is probably the most complex part of the swap.... I don't know of anyone that has done a C20LET into Lanos swap as of yet so I don't know how hard it is.

Stefan ( from UK ) said the European engines had their own harness so there are only a few wires that have to be hooked into the factory Lanos wiring system.

I'd love to make a "plug and play" conversion setup but as usual I don't have the time :(
