..brake problem

Post by kinkyllama »

Well, 2 weeks ago i checked my brake pads cuz i was racing that weekend.. they were about 85% full. Today... the right one is gone. lol. The left one seems to be mostly there.. but im gonna pull the wheel off and check later tonight.

I dont know what caused the right brake pad to get worn so fast. When i broke the rotor seemed to wobble alot and the car got shacky... but when i took the wheel off all the bolts were tight. I dont think the rotor could be warped cuz wouldnt i have noticed shaking? especialy at high speeds?

thanks guys.

Also later imma get a pic of my rotor and i wanna know if i should get it machined or if its okay to drive on

seems like your rotor problem had a toll on the pads.

Maybe you have a bleeding issue there, make sure you bleed the car all over starting from the far rear right left rear front right front left

Got bleed about a week and a half ago.

I think its just the rotor... cuz i replaced the front rotors with my stock ones and all seems fine

the shudder in the car when braking is a sign of warpped rotors, u shoul dhave them resurfaced and also refurace the pads, use a pece of sandpaper, heavy grit and break up the glaze off the pades, if the right pasds are worn, there might be a problem with the sliders, the two pins that the caliper bolts to the braket by, they should move freely, if not then u need to take them out, clean and re grease them using antisieze or caliper greese.

First off my right pads were COMPLETLY worn through.. nothing left but metal. Though my rotor isnt scratched too bad. Anyways though.... if the rotor was warped would i have noticed the shuddering before my pad was completly gone? cuz my brakes were 100% untill my pad was gone.

Also wouldnt it warp during some hard break? (i.e. racing) cuz that was almost two weeks ago.. i think if they warped i woulda noticed earlyier

maybe the scratches appeared when the right pads were eaten up to the metal due to a stuck left caliper... did the car pull to the right during braking??

The scratches on the rotor were b/c there was no pad left.. your question kinda confused me.

No the car was completly normal right up untill there was no pad left.

ok now your answer is good enough for my question... you don't have a sticky caliper 'cause if you had that your car should pull towards the caliper that is working fine.

i am not sure of the nature of the problem you have but i would recommend machining the rotors, regrease caliper pins and getting a new set of pads and watch the wear pattern on them pads for a while.

who did the last pad installation? could have done something wrong during the process or so... i am not sure.

I have new pads on it now and i am watching them. Im going to take the rotors to a brake shop and ask them if its warped... and if they can machine it if its not warped.

I do all my own brakes jobs and i know everything was on properly as i do it all the time and doube/triple check it cuz it was before race weekend

ok then, just keep a watchful eye on them pads for the next couple of K miles after you resurface the rotors... just to be sure.

Well had the rotors turned (5 thousandths) to fix the right warped rotor.... drove maybe 300 miles all seemed fine. Did 20 miles on the track this morning and thought the braking pulled a little but couldnt tell for sure. My right brake pads gone again (2nd set x80bux @ only like 1k miles).

What the hell? Could the shop have not fixed the warped rotor properly? could there be another problem thats causing the rotor to warp?

I dont think the rotor could have warped again as i wasnt using the at 10/10ths very much like i usually do on the track since this is the first time ive been on this one.

One thing i noticed is that although the car didnt pull to the right much the right tire (and brakes, and wheel) was ALOOOOTT hotter than the left side which shows that the right brakes were being pressed harder.

Also the pads seems to be rubbing on the right rotor even when the brakes arnt pressed which seems to be the main problem... which is probably how the rotor warped in the first place. What could be wrong with my caliber?
