Ok so I Got a BRAND new radiator and replaced it today and I go to take my car for a spin and it is still over heating, is this a bad water pump possibly?

well I did replace the thermostat about 2.5 years ago, but it could be that too. I'll check on ebay for that as well.

Is there any way to tell if it is that without buying a new one and swapping it out?

does the hose from the thermo to the radiatopr get super hot?? if so then the thermo opens successfuly.

when it overheats, does the cooling fans kick in at normal speed or does it kick in in high speed or doesn't it work at all?

can you see the regular coolant turbulance at the coolant reservoir? if not then the pump is not working fine.

did you fill in your coolant system in the correct way and gave it time to bleed itself?

I haven't touched the hose at all, but the cooling fans(both of them) kick on and run at super high speeds, but I haven't noticed the coolant level, but I didn't give it time to bleed properly through the system, I think tonight when I go home I am going to do the coolant system flush.

well the one hose that goes from the raditor to the thermostat is heating up and the fans kick onto high speeds just sitting at idle, I didn't notice any level change or movement in the resevoir. I let the car idle for over 15 minutes to try and let it bleed I think it should've been fine by then, but I think I narrowed it down to the pump.

thanks for all the input!

list

Post by python235 »

ok since i rebuilt he car from scratch the past months i pretty much know what heat might be from, here is a list
- air in the water pipings or res.
- thermostat error! "VERY SCARY CAN CAUSE HEAD TO CRACK" happend in my dads kia
- pipe restriction
- fan errors "can be from ANY electrical shorts, happened with me"
- radiator <- replaced no problem
- the pump "esspecially if u fil it with water and not coolant, rust could eat it up"
- thats about it, but make sure ur oil is clean and now water oil mixing is happning and that no water is in the cyclinders and no oil burning exsesivly too, if all those are checked well no heating will happen for sure
