Pimped out Daewoo Leganza (NEED HELP!)

Post by vjx987 »

Ok -
Being a PROUD OWNER of a Daewoo Leganza, i decided, i would make my beast sound great. So -

I have installed 2 4-way 6" in the front doors (those koreans were bastards when they decided to change the wire colour 4 times between door and head unit)

I have installed a 12" Pioneer sub with 1000w Clarion Amp

I have installed a Pioneer MP-P7750 Head Unit (RRP AU$1350)

And now i am replacing the stock 6x9's but this is where i need help...
I have come across a problem, the stock speaker covers are quite the bitch to remove as i think they are attached to the entire parcel shelf, i looked to remove from below, however the metal shelf below it makes it hard to see.
Does anyone know what to remove in order to get those damn speaker covers off and how?

Help would be muchly appreciated. Thanks!

I had a wrecked Leganza that I stripped all the parts out of and that rear speaker stuff was a bitch to get out.

It's been a long time but I think I had to remove the entire shelf.

Uhhhhhh.... yep..... just went out into my storage shed and I still have the rear shelf.... the speaker covers are screwed into the shelf from underneath....so the only way to get at the speakers is to remove the entire shelf.

If I remember correctly I think I had to remove the panels all around the shelf as well.... I remember swearing a few times and saying how it was a really dumb design.

Obviously they didn't think about the fact that people might want to change their speakers!!!

you shouln't have to remove the whole deck. Laying down in the trunk with the front seats flipped down. Use a flashlight to look up to the underneath side of the deck, you will see small holes where the screws are. I had to do this to change the 6x9's on my nubira.
When in doubt, FLOOR it!!!

oh. i would cry in happiness if that is true. ill go and have a geeze at it now. ive spent the last 3 days trying to find different ways to get it off but turns out to get the whole deck off i'd need to remove the roofing skirts and what not. ill let you know how it turns out.

i don't know about the Leggy but on my lanos, those covers are screwd from the back so you got to remove the shelf first then you will be able to access the screws to remove the grill.

yeh i lifted a bit of the shelf up and found screws however the shelf is tucked in under trim from the roof, so it will be v. hard to get it out.

take out the bottom of the back seat (lift it and it clips out) then there is a 13mm bolt on each cussion.
At the moment im running a clarion head unit, clarion components up front and poineer (booooo) comp 6x9's in the rear through an alpine amp. Im not a huge fan of subs, on saturday i installed 2 12 inch clarions into my ex girlfriends car along with clarion speakers, amp and headunit, but due to there being a backseat to muffle them, i get better sounding bass out of my 6x9s (although i do thrash the crap out of them). When cranked they dont pump as hard as the subs, but i still get asked by every second person if i have a sub in the boot.
