amp tunning

Post by kinkyllama »

Well since it seams the tempest will never be available i think i shoud at least tune my amp to the one (well.. almost one, damn thing is dying) sub i have. I have that sony amp and a punch1 sub in a shitty pre-fab box. What other info do you need? uhh.. it has a cap.. uh... i have no idea how its wired... it was wired for two subs and i just took one out.

If you need any other info let me know

Thanks,
Danny

bridge that one sub then. so its getting the max amount of watts from the amp. bridge = put the positive wire on the right positive slot and put the negative on the left negative spot. so there would be two slots not used. hope this helps.

im pretty sure i understand what you mean but the only slots that are NOT used on the amp are Right and Left output, and amp to sub wire (the one for the sub thats broken)

ohh alright.. i tried doing a little something like that playing around when i didnt understand how this stuff worked.. but i figured it didnt do any good.

but now 1 question regarding thaat... wont I be giving thesub too much power? i mean it was powering two of the same subs perfectly but now one?

Now on the amp what should i set the level, LPF, and low bass too?

well with the bridge it does give it more power to that one sub. but if its already kinda busted you might not want to then. but if you want that one sub to be almost as loud as two then bridge it.

and as for the dials just turn your system on and mess with it until you like what you hear. now don't turn the "gain" up too much b/c thats your actual bass dial.

I had it tuned to what i liked best.. and i finally got my cap reconnected *with a voltage meter* and with the volume up to where i like it and the bass hitting pretty hard the voltage doesnt even drop below 14.4... when it should be in the 13s and my subs just getting worked. hehe

the voltage isn't too bad when it's a little bit higher, the power (ampere) is more important because that reflects the power ( voltage x ampere) of your sub.

what ampere?

My stereos sounding pretty good.. and i havnt even gotten the tuning the amp on the sub yet. I changed my crossovers for my comps. to -3db cuz when i turn the bass up they have always been the first thing to cut out so its a little more balanced now.
