i am not the expert on forced induction here but i noticed a funny thing... you guys say that a turbo spins like 50,000 or 70,000 RPM to produce boost... right??
now what i saw on the pic is basicly a turbo beeing driven buy the engine through a belt, we all know our engines can rev up to some 6,500 RPM and assuming the gear ratios on that thing is 2:1 and the ratio between the crank pully and the superturbocharger is some 4:1 then at 3000 RPM this thing will only spin like 24,000 RPM... is that enough to produce a minimum of 7 psi???
only at 6500 RPM it can start to be intresting... 52,000 RPM turbine spins but by the time you get to that 6,500 you will be tralling the car you are trying to beat due to the restriction that things puts on the intake during low RPM.
i am not a real expert but i am looking at it from a logical point of view... fell free to correct me if i am wrong.

Kinda aneat idea though. But what mmamdouh said sounds right.
I believe most turbos spool up to 75krpms all the way to over 200k. So even if you can get that thing at 52k thats probably hardly any power

But it isn't a turbo, it is a supercharger, they are belt driven off of a bigger pulley connected via rubber belt to a much smaller pulley and spin slower than a turbocharger. And yes they have the ability to create 7 psi of boost even at low RPM.
I still don't really trust it though, build-it-yourself anything major that can seriously screw up an engine isn't for me. But if you do know what you are doing it is a good way to save a load of money.

i asked myself the same question Bosnianlanos and i flashed back to the Australian supercharged Lanos... the supercharger looks way too different than a turbo so i recon the copressor used by a supercharger is much bigger and works in a different way so that it can provide boost at low RPM.

Well there are 2 types of superchargers, there are the Vortec style which actually replace your intake manifold with the supercharger assembly, and there are the Centrifugal style which look like turbochargers but are much less vehicle specific so you can go custom. It is hard to tell between Centrifugal and Turbo chargers at a glance.

ok assuming that this is correct... where is the source of lubrication for the turbine shaft?? i don't suppose that this thing wil rev up to 70,000 without a continous flow of oil... right?

to achive that and get some 60,000 RPM on the turbo with 3,000 engine RPM you need a 20:1 gear ratio... i don't think the gears in the pic got that ratio at all.Brian5475E wrote:The kit comes with the gears. the pulley drive a set of internal gears that spins the turbine at high rpm's it will spin the same speed as a turbo charger.
