top speed?

ok so today i went for a drive and decided to see what the ol' nubira would do.
i was on the highway and had the gas down but she wouldnt do 100. do u guys nubira's cut off before 100. i was kind of dissapointed, i had no one in front of me, and i wanted to go!!

100 as in 100 MPH... right? if so then i have pushed my 1.5 SOHC Lanos up to 170 Km/h which is above 100 MPH so i recon you got something off in your car.

yes 100 mph. i would go to 95 no problem, but it just wouldnt do 100, the needle woud stop, then drop down a little and go back up and stop.

sounds like loss of top end HP... check your air filter and spark plugs... do you have clogged injectors or dirty intake?? are the spark plug wires too old? do you have too much weight in your car? (sound system and whatnot).

no, everything is good. no sound system. i think it may be a governor. the needle was goin up pretty good, then just stopped, and i couldnt go any faster. this is sad.

Daewoos doesn't have a governer... only thing that could hold you back is the EGR valve kicking in... was it too hot while you were doing that? was the A/C on?

i did have the a/c on before i decided to try it. i turned it off once i stepped on the gas

i recon it was abit hot arround you and the A/C was just turned off... most likly it was the EGR kicking in, i hate the damn thing when it does that

What engine is it? My forenza with 40k miles gets 120 with 5 ppl in it. Hell it will hold 107 with 5 ppl and AC on full blast ice cold.

So theres gotta be something..

Damn, even my '99 Lanos with 193,000 Miles easily passes 100 and keeps accelerating (caught up with dangerously close traffic) my record ever was 114 MPH on a slight downhill grade and even then it felt as though it could keep going.

The 2.0L should be able to surpass 120 easily so my guess is something must be wrong.
