Which suspension on the lanos?

Post by Cliffke »

Hi there everybody,

I am from Belgium and wanted to lower my woo some centimeters (inches :p)

You have variable suspension for all the cars exept for a daewoo here in belgium :( , i can lower him with springs only but that wasn't what I had in mind :)

But from my friend who works in the garage I heard that Daewoo is practaly the same as Opel (Vauxhall) so I wanted to know with wich car it shares the suspension?

I want to lower minimal 8 cm's, about 3,5 inches I think

Its actually identical to 88-91 Opel Kadett GSI - you should have plenty of choices as far as the suspension is concerned.

i lowered mine 40mm, in the UK. thats the most i could find for it. i belive that there is 2 types of suspension. (i think its the rear suspension thats different)

mines 40mm on 17s, and it sits low enough. i have had the rear arches rolled, but if i hit a big bump in the road, it catchs on the STOPPERS.

I have also 17s and even have now problems when I take a bump, my rear tire is a little bit damaged :)

I solved this with some helping springs (sorry for the weird word but thats the letteraly translation.

I heared in Belgium for a kit and I could lower maximum 3.5mm with h&r springs + shoks

But now I am looking for a adjustable kit like a kw variante2 thats why I asked the opel link :)

I am hoping we can fix this problem... if not the combination of koni shocks & eibach springs will be used to lower 3mm :(

We'll see :p

Did you mean 35mm (not 3.5mm)? And 30 mm (not 3mm)?

Also, the problem is most likely with the wheels that you have. What kind of offset do you have? If it's anything less than 40mm offset, you will have rubbing issues and you will damage your tires. I suggest you find wheels that are 40 and over (42, 45) offset. You won't have anymore problems.

The weels aren't the problem :) if I find a kit that goes below the 8 cm (sorry I meant indeed 35mm :) ) then my rims are gone...or maybe talk to my (person who does the bodywork) that he can make the wheel holes bigger :)

It's searching the kit...Tomorrow or Wednesday I'm gonna talk my mate in the shop. We'll see what he says :)

80mm seems a bit drastic, 60mm would be more than enough. and i doubt youll find it, i searched the whole uk, and no one stocks a 60mm drop for the lanos.

good luck, if you find it, let me know. thanks, rez

Trust me you don't want to lower your car even 3 inches. My car was previously dropped about 3 inches in the front and 2.5 inches in the back, I had major suspension problems (cut springs). But still, every speed bump was a problem, deep pot holes were a huge problem (my car would just get stock, the wheels would be in the hole and the whole engine would lay on the ground). Now I switched to Eibach (1.2" drop) and they're great!
