Does anyone have any stats or measurements on this topic because I am interested in them if so. I was pondering the same thing not to long ago.
I never said it would be unbearable. But for someone who has been driving his car for a while, the difference will be noticable and perhaps not acceptable.

i understand what tango is saying... the only thing i have to do is sort out this heavnes in the steering wheel that i have so that it won't feel that much worse with the bigger rims and wider tires.

any idea whay would a power assisted steering wheel feel heavy? that is the way it was since i got the car, already flushed power steering fluid but nothing happened. the only time i felt it so light was when i had my timing belt changed then a few days later it was back to the old heavy steering... any ideas??

Remember M, our cars have a European flavour and the steering isn't designed to be as light as an American or Japanese car. One of the things I loved about the Cielo was the weight of the steering. Make no mistake, if you lose that "heavy" power steering you'll realise exactly how much assist it actually provides. Don't worry, they all do that, Sir...LOL.

actually i like my bit heavy steering wheel 'cause i am a little aggresive with the steering wheel so a much light steering can make me flip the car or so... i am happy with it so far.

OK now i got the weights for the comparison:

13" rim with 175/70/13 tire weights 14.00Kgm
14" rim with 185/60/14 tire weights 15.25Kgm

so now i am looking at a 1.25 Kgm (8.9%) increase per wheel which will affect acceleration (rotating weight) and handling (non suspended or non sprung weight) so is the 8.9% that subistantial??

i am looking for better high speed stability, better cornering and better grip during braking so i guess i can acheve that with the bigger wheel setup but what about acceleration? will it be that bad? i only got a 1.5 SOHC with 86HP.

need some advice guys.

i say just do it.
i went from a 185/60/14 to a 205/50/15, the handling and stoping power is unreal but accel did slow down. so all you do is go turbo and as easy as that you have more of everything
as for the weight of steering i have power steering so all i did was lift a 4 pound weight for 3 reps once and your good to go.
but if your gonna piss your pants cuz you cant turn the wheel than maybe you should just put the old tires on and call it good

HMMMMM... i have power steering too so i guess it won't be a problem, the handling improvment however seems very nice as you discribed.

as for weight i guess i have to take off some of the junk in my trunk to compansiate for the extra weight i gained (as if the 4 Kgms are that substantial  )

Just go for it, the handling benefits will out weigh the extra weight. The only time you really have to worry about rotating mass is on acceleration from a dead stop, and bringing the car to a stop again. Once it's rolling, you won't really notice a difference, except up a steep hill.

I went from 15's to 17's, and now run 205/40/17 tires, or rubber bands as some call them. The ride is much rougher due to the small amount of tire to abosrb the bumps, but these are 40 series tires, not 60 series, so the 60's will still have plenty of rubber to take the edge off those bumps.

my lanos came on 13s, and i put 17s on it, no real problem, other than rubbing on the rear, and a bit less pullaway.

well worth it for the grip and handling

thing to consider

heavier rims,
wider tyres
bigger wheels... all effect the car in one way or another...

Do you know if the car is sold as anything else in other countries, as I have not heard of that model.
