at the race track, they are selling 110 octane for 2.50 a gallon to help everyone. they get it for free at the track as a sponsorship deal from nascar so they are trying to be nice to everyone. i'm thinking about going and getting some. it's a limit of 10 gallons, but that will fill the woo.

i think the problem is in running too low octan rather than too hight... right??

practically every one used the lowest octan that doesn't hurt the car to be cost effective.

$2.99 9/10

So.. $3.00 per gallon of regular cheap gas 87 oct.

Damn, and they're already running short down here. There might not even be school tomorrow cause they can't get enough diesel to run the school buses. And since I have a 22 mile round trip to school...I ain't goin'.

Yeah... but the higher the octane the slower the burning, right? (or am i mixing it up...). If the car is set up for 87 octane.. but you put in 110 it would probably keep burning halfway through the exhaust system. Im sure the headers would look pretty cool glowing red though

i think it is more about the tendancy for detonation under pressure rather than how fast it burns so if you run too low octan you will get detonation but if you run too high octan you will be wasting your money... i guess.

For the time being I lightenened my car.

Nothing in trunk. Not even jack or spare tire. Carpeted truck cover out. Backseat out. I'm only running with a small compressor driven tire repair kit.

It is about maybe 50-60 lbs lighter so it should use a little less gas.

I already took off my compressor (broke) so I'm getting about 28-36 MPG. All depends on how I drive. However at 101 MPH the Lanos sucks gas like a Ferrari. I'll have to put of my antics until gas goes down again.
