Wheels.. fitting wider

Post by kinkyllama »

Well my car stock is only supposed to hold 7.5 wide.. i wanna go at least 8inches wide W/ some wide R compounds. My car will also be about 2-2.5inches lower than stock. What do you think id need to do to fit 8inch wide wheels? Or do you think its even possible to fit wider? These wheels/tires will only be for track use btw.

No rush really i dont think im buying new wheels for at least a month.

Thanks for input,
Danny

Whats your car supposed to hold? I have 7 inch wide now with 1.2inches lower and even with 5ppl in the car and stuff in the trunk it does rub at all unless i hit big bumps or turn really sharp and hit really uneven pavment. Thats why i said these wheels are only for the track.. i wont have the back seat in... no subs.. little less wait and no ppl. But my car will also be about an inch lower

yup....

and get some wheel spacers for your 7.5's so they stick out the same distance and keep the look consistent.

I wish.. but thats not something i have the resources to do and i bet that'd easily cost ALOT of money. I wouldnt mind 8.5inch wide rims though... but it'd probably look stupid with my street wheels that are only 7inches

Just pull out a sawsall.... remove 6" of fender and bolt on some fenders from a 4X4 truck... you would be able to get 10" rims on there!!!

I bet you could do it for $100.

that's why i said use spacers. it's like a plate that goes behind the wheel to make it stick out farther. it would make for more agressive handling with your street tires too :D

as for the cost... the flares would be about 100 bucks and the work... well, who knows, whatever the body shop chose to charge you.
