The MDF should be 3/4", of if you want, Baltic Birch plywood. It is lighter weight and a little stronger than MDF, but more expensive.

Use coarse thread, 1 1/4" drywall screws

Predrill, I said PREDRILL ( ) the holes for the screws so the MDF does not split

It is a good idea to countersink the screw holes so the screws sit flush or recessed.

Use Elmers (or some other brand) of wood glue

You can do almost all your cutting with a jig saw, but a circular saw is better and a table saw is much more accurate than either.

I will have to look at WinISD when I get home; I can not get to that web page from work, nor can I install any software on a work computer.
If the parameters for the Tempest is not in there, I will make a new template and plug in all the information.

The port size and placement will be determined by the software after all the information has been fed into it.

Will a 5x5 sheet of baltic birch be enough?


My last (of my two) sub died.. well i think.. it could be the wire but im sick and dont wanna go figured it out right now and even with the bass ALL the way down my rear speakers cut out badly. Should i just take em out? It sounds horrible.. i guess before i couldnt hear it b/c of my sub.

this is a slightly off topic question, but i didnt want to start a new topic...anyways, are bazooka tubes any good?? The reason i ask is purely because they take up less space then a conventional sub, and im interested to know if they pump hard, or are just a waste of time considering i dont have the space constraints of (for arguments sake) a ute.

As long as they are made for the sub that is in them , they are not bad when you have to put up with them if you are limited for trunk space. Just getting a generic tube and putting some random subwoofer will make sound, but not good sound, unless you are very very lucky!

But, no matter how much you may want a tube to be good, they just can't be made to the required specifications of a subwoofer, unles you had a much larger tube which you added a tuned port on the side.

Let's just say you could do much worse. LOL

A box designed specifically to a subwoofer's tech specs will always out perform a tube.

Fixed my sub.. problem is now i upgraded my ground wires and now my sub is wayyy to loud... well not too loud but the rubbers cracked a little and it cant be turned up without cracking out. Im amazed at how big of a difference the ground wires did.
