Good muffler?

Post by TheGreatAndPowerfulOz »

Would this be a good muffler for a NA Lanos 1.6?

Stainless steel Magnaflow with an offset 2 1/4" inlet and 2 1/4" center outlet.

Planning to have a local shop bend a stainsless steel 2 1/4" cat back exhaust for my car.

I don't know, I've never gotten under my car and measured the OEM muffler. LOL

There is a smaller version of that same muffler available.

I'll get under my car and take some measurements.

that's not bad actually... it is a little long, but the pipe diameter in and out tells you it's for a lower displacement car.

if it's cheap in comparison... get it.

I can't watch .MOV files here at work and at home I am on dialup, so video takes forever to download.

I'll have to try downloading the file when I go to the library and taking it home on a USB flash drive.

I don't want a small round muffler that makes my car sound like it has an angry bee trapped inside a coffee can, and I don't want a muffler that looks anything like this:

That is why I am looking at the oval mufflers that have a similar shape to the OEM muffler.

Oz, On the Lancer Forums, Everyone Is crazy about the Magnaflow #14829.

Magnaflow makes a great muffler and they have I believe "the million Mile Warranty"... When I get my catback for the lancer (new job, woot) I'll be getting 3 inch with a Magnaflow H/F Cat and Resonator. The Muffler will be a Megan Racing Spec-II. It's a Oval muffler like you said you didn't want, but it has the potential to make your car atleast sound like a v6, a friend of mine just put the Megan Muffler on his 2.0l and it is a beast. and he has an auto.

so... maybe that is the route to go.

Good luck.
