Bought a D16 4-1 header

Post by Brian5475E »

Well I bought a new header cheap. I'm waiting for it to be shipped. Now I need to find out how much welding I need to do to make it work. I have my new oxy-accy torches to weld with. I did some welding on my muffler with the torches and arc welding rods. talk about a strong weld. Basically melt the metal together. I'll let you guys know what's up when I finish.

I started on it. Sorry no pics, my brothers dig camera is messed up. I will try to borrow my cousins. After much hacking of the holes, the header fits on the engine, and the down pipe fits under the engine perfect. Only thing is I have to cut out the factory flex pipe and shorten the downpipe from the header. Tomorrow I have to go and find a shorter flex pipe, and get it welded in. I also welded in a 2nd o2 bung. I have to get a anti fouler to put in there to trick the o2 sensor/ecu. Now you Lanos guys may have it easier, the Aveo is really short underneth the engine. I will deff. have a pic of the final project. Oh yeah on the Aveo the Header fits perfectly around the A/C compressor. No problems. I 'm gonna sheild the A/C lines, don't want to melt those

So the oil pan isn't a problem on an Aveo? Really want to see pics.

The aveo has the same left bend on the oil pan. the d16 header has the same bend.

That's a D16 header, and I don't see any bends. Do you have a pic of the one you bought?
Also, did you use the headgasket that came with the header or did you keep the stock one?

Thanks.

I bought the 4-1, but look at the flange it tips to the left. it makes the downpipe move to the left. mine is a 4-1 and fits, don't know about a 4-2-1. But mine is up for sale since I found out today that my step dad is getting a wrecked forenza. so bye bye 1.6 hello 2.0
