the best/worse case senario depends on how many bent valves you got... those will be anything from 2 up to 16.

you will need new valves, timing belt, timing belt tensioner and a head gasket to keep you going again.

if i were you i would throw in idler pulleys and water pump too... and check the A/C and alternator belt if they need replacment.

depends if you do it yourself or is you pay someone to do it. Tom from 360 can get most of those parts if not all of them for a lot cheaper than say a dealership. i don't know exact numbers but i hear it can be like $300 just for the labor of paying for someone.

don't know off hand but just click on the 360 banner on top and look up the parts. just depends on what kind of head gasket and timing belt you want so the prices vary on you selection.

these aren't the cheapest... they are to give you an idea

intake valve on ebay... $11 shipped... each
exhaust valves on ebay... $14 shipped... each
head gasket on ebay... $100-110 shipped
ac delco timing belt on www.rockauto.com... $36 PLUS shipping
timing belt tensioner on ebay... $79-110 shipped
water pump on ebay... $57 shipped

best case... $190 (4 intake valves, belt, gasket)
worst case... $513 (8 intake valves, 8 exhaust valves, everything else)

i'm sorry to hear that. i was one of the lucky few who caught my timing belt's issues early on. i hope it's the best case for your sake. :(

Well, unfortunately, for worst case scenario for all valves totalled, the price will be a little high.

Ex Valves: $14.91 x 8
In Valves: $8.14 x 8
Head Gasket: $20.93
Valve Seals: $3.42 x 16
Timing Belt: $59.95
Idler Pulley: $26.81
Tensioner: $94.45
Water Pump: $54.17

You might not need the last three things, but it is a good idea to change them so they don't fail.

And this is hoping that you don't have any piston or con rod damage which would cost about $105 (piston, ring, rod, pin) each cylinder.

So basically, worst case scenario with all mentioned wrecked, (if my calculations are correct) you are looking at $495.43 + shipping.

Plus potentially damaged pistons and other internals.

Plus a good $300+ for Labor @ $65.00/hr.

You are looking at about $800-$900 USD.

Of course, it probabally won't be anywhere near that high for regular damage, but I would still venture to say somewhere around $400-$500 for the fix.

Realistically, you coul get a full Lanos working engine off Ebay or at a junkyard for that cheap.

You will not know 100% untill you rip the head off.

I'm sorry that happened man, and timing belts are truly the Achilles' Heel of Daewoo Engines.
