grounding kit
ok, i have a friend who is a scammer on ebay. he sells grounding kits for 30 bucks a piece. he gave me one for free yesterday, but i'm really unsure where to hook all the points up. there are 7 wires on it.
also... i'm aware that you put the grounding block on the battery post, but does the stock battery terminal connect to the little block?
does the stock battery terminal go between the plate and the mounting block? you can see the space i'm talking about in the last pic...

i put it on my post... then...
throttle body - on one oif the screws that hold the metal bracket that holds the cable
Trut tower - one of the bolts
exhaust manifold - the bolt that the engine hoist point is on
firewall - duh
body grounding point - beside where the stock airbox used to be
transmission - that was a b*tch
fuel filter mounts - yeah, those
i recommend this mod. VERY noticible torque and throttle response. everyone needs a grounding kit.

Basically, everything except Battery to body- body to engine/tranny block, is basically unneccesary. If Oz reads this post, he'll be pretty adamant about that. The extra wiring will basically just clutter your engine compartment and make it harder to perform maintinence when necessary. I used 4 Guage wire for my ground wires but it was basically overkill and the type of wire I used had very very thick strands and was not very bendable. However, out of sheer luck, it was coated to withstand oil, gas, and heat.
I have to make a new set ASAP with a better battery terminal, colored thick guage amp/woofer wire for looks, and solid copper terminals.
But I totally agree, I never believed in ground wires until I made a set. Car turns on quicker, better throttle response, brighter lights, faster windows/locks. It is 100000% worth it.

Take a pic of it on the battery part. I wanna make sure i understand how the set your friend gave you works.
How many feet of wire do you think i'd need?

Where as the stock wire was something like 16 gauge, I simply unscrewed the battery terminal clamp and removed the old small gauge wire. I replaced it with 4 gauge wire.delphis wrote:^so are you just talking about increasing the gauge of the negative battery cable? and where does the other end attach to at the body of the car?
The body ground is directly behind the battery of the Lanos and I reused the same hole. Depending on what car you have, the location is different, but should be more than maybe 5 inches from the battery. Just follow the wire.
